You are allowed since a few years back to double touch the handle but you may never touch the granite. It is just like doing it with the broom further down the sheet

Agree with pretty much everything you said and I definitely see issues with it, but it’s not cheating and I don’t think it was intentional. Cheating would be if the rule on it explicitly state that you can’t touch the rock twice/granite before it reaches the hog-line. 
 

This leaves a lot of room for confusion and although maybe Kennedy thought he wasn’t doing anything wrong, he was a bit of a dick the way he went about it 

 

Now, reading after these, he “technically” didn’t break any rules, but it probably should’ve be a burned rock. Then again it’s not clear enough. 
 

I hope situations like these can be avoided in the future.

So the only part of the stone you can touch is the handle. Any other part is a foul.

I'm no expert so won't really say what is wrong and what isn't, but the Canadian team was certainly everything but sportsmanlike. 

The Swedish team mentions it. The Canadian team quickly says Oskar did it as well. 

Then positioning 2 players by the hogline. Without a doubt to play the mental game.

Then the "Fuck off".

And even in the mixed zone the Canadians do their best to disturb the Swedish interview...

 

R.I.P. Gentlemen sport  

 

Hopefully this will make the curling federation consider the rules and what to do. According to the Swedish women there have been talks about a video referee.

Yeah burned stone. Only cheating if intential but to do this repeatedly several players from the same team and this was not the first time from this team, and other teams have also the last 2 seasons been using this "technique". And this is not something that happens by mistake. To burk a stone while sweeping can happend. I have myself Done that several times but from playing on a pretty high level many years I have never ever on practice or in a game been close to do this by mistake.

Rule violations clarification following men’s session four in Cortina

 

Following the situations arising from the Sweden versus Canada game in men’s session four on Friday (13 February) evening, several issues require clarification.

 

Use of Video Replay

World Curling does not currently use video replay to re-umpire game decisions. Decisions made during a game are final.

 

Delivery Violations

Game Umpires are situated at the end of each sheet and physically cannot see every delivery infraction. However, when they are made aware of delivery issues, game umpires are positioned to observe the delivery for three ends. During this period of observation in the Friday evening game, there were no violations recorded.

 

When delivering a stone, before the hog line players can retouch the handle as many times as they wish. However, touching the handle after the hog line is not allowed and will result in a the stone being removed from play as per Rule R.5 (e) that states: “A stone must be clearly released from the hand before it reaches the hog line at the delivery end. If the player fails to do so, the stone is immediately removed from play by the delivering team.”

 

During forward motion, touching the granite of the stone is not allowed. This will result in the stone being removed from play.

 

As per rule R.5 (d) “The curling stone must be delivered using the handle of the stone.” Violation of this rule, will result in the stone being removed from play.

Disappointing that Canada’s cheating now results in additional umpiring of what prides itself on being a game of good and proper sportsmanship. But if there are cheats about then it’s only right and fair. 
 

I also note that Canada has received a warning for their language and behaviour with additional sanctions threatened. 
 

But realistically how does that help Sweden? Canada’s stone, by World Curling’s own judgement, should have been removed from play - yet the result stands.
