given the new racing system* and the fact that there are only 7 boats, the 8+ only need 2 competition days: qualifying races + final

*for those who're not familiar with it yet: now the prelims are contested with timed heats (the top 12/24 advancing, depending on how many boats are competing; with 7 boats only, the top 6 advance straight to the final) and then there are no more repechage heats, but only (quarterfinals, if it's the case), semis and finals

The 8+ is the glamour event and should end the regatta, not start it!

It is a good speed event and for the bigger countries it is the key event, but it is extremely uncompetetive, which sucks. Always the same few nations seriously contesting it.

Sport Climbing Probable Schedule (Bold indicating Medals):

Day 10 (Mon, 24/jul)

09:30-11:40 Men's or Women's Boulder Qualis

13:45-15:25 Speed Qualis

Day 11 (Tue, 25/jul)

09:15-11:25 Men's or Women's Boulder Qualis

18:45-20:00 Men's or Women's Lead Qualis

Day 12 (Wed, 26/jul)

09:00-10:30 M/W Speed Finals

18:45-20:00 Men's or Women's Lead Qualis

Day 13 (Thurs, 27/jul)

09:00-10:55 Men's or Women's Boulder Finals

Day 14 (Fri, 28/jul)

09:00-10:55 Men's or Women's Boulder Finals

13:45-15:00 Men's or Women's Lead Finals

Day 15 (Sat, 29/jul)

09:30-10:45 Men's or Women's Lead Finals

(Source: Just me trying to figure it out, based on how long the comps normally last, and given the by-session calendar by LA28.)

Edit: I would also add that in Boulder and Lead, they'd probably follow the same order (e.g. Men, then Women...that would prevent anyone doing both disciplines from having to do two finals on Friday, as it would be one sex in the morning in one discipline, the other sex in the afternoon in the other discipline.)

This really puts in perspective to me just how nice the end of the combined is. The Boulder and Lead combined format just dragged on for ages (it was even worse w/ speed). These are much more watcheable finals (with a much better scoring system too).

Misprint in the cricket by-session calendar?  Currently it has the gold medal match first, then the bronze medal.  Or is that typical?

Almost certainly the case. It isn't a mystery to anyone why Cricket was added to the Olympics, and just like how Swimming had an odd schedule in Beijing and Tokyo and Figure Skating had an odd schedule in Pyeongchang and in Beijing, it figures that Cricket would have a schedule that accommodates India.

For reference, using the schedule as it is listed now:

Gold medal match currently listed at 09:00-12:00 LA Time, which is 21:30-00:30 India time.

Bronze medal match currently listed at 18:30-22:00 LA Time, which is 07:00-10:30 India time.

(Time is the same for both Men's and Women's...just one is Day 6 and the other is Day 15.)

Edit: And just for kicks, the Gold would be 16:00-19:00 in London, the Bronze at 01:30-05:00.  So, it's a plausible argument.

    • Because of Del Bosco or Wallasch? I know that Del Bosco got only 5 WC points this season. But he is probably the oldest one so may make the last Games in his career. Wallasch made 18 points this season .....
    • It seems the whole system has been putting the quota confirmed country by country. Just now confirmed. Also wondering when quota will be shown there 😁😁
    • Due Schmidt reached an Olympic Q time in SLC at the end of the qualifying window. 6'29''76 for 6'30 in the 5000. This means he can honor his place in the MS. Denmark will have 2 skaters.
    • Hoping there will be one reallocation in men's Skicross. Daniel Paulus would really deserve his first Games despite he is over 30.
    • Brignone returns to the World Cup tomorrow in Kronplatz, but I doubt it will be a Vonn-style comeback... I'm more worried about whether she'll be in the second run On the other hand, if she were really weak, she would probably give up this season?   https://www.instagram.com/p/DTsPi0yCNBG/
