The team event also have one other big problem in my opinion. As long as you had the best male and femaler skiier, it doesn´t matter at all who the two other skiiers are and how poor they would perform because you would always win on the tiebreaker.

Ya. The team parallel event is… fun. I actually really enjoy watching it. Other than slalom it’s actually the alpine skiing event I enjoy watching the most. But it is *very* hard to take seriously.

The problem with the old combined was it was skewed heavily into slalom speciallists for a while and the speed guys just threw in the towel. The whole alping skiing has turned into event speciallism except for guys at the very top (and the current #1 Odermatt doesn't do slaloms which makes him vastly different to Pinturault & Hirscher who came from tech to add speed events). Likewise Svindal didn't bother with combined since he didn't do slaloms. The days of KAA and Kjus were over and done with some time ago and FIS realized something had to be done. The parallel team events are not good enough, everyone knows one course is very likely to be better and the event can be manipulated by choice so having two athletes doing their preferred event in Team Combined makes most sense on paper IMO. I'm willing to give it a try going forward.

Those are basically my thoughts as well. Ideally I’d like us to have the old combined back.  But given the combined is probably dead and buried for good I prefer having the team combined rather than no combined at all.

    • well, those splits were actually suspect   now we know they weren't reliable at all
    • Stories emerging that on Day 1, the track was wrongly marked.  Specifically the start marks for Lane 3 on the 4x400m meant that runners were running short distance.  Don't know what is going to be done, but presumably WA must stand by the results, although any records set will be scrubbed.
    • Had privilege to see  loosing to  live in the arena! Amazing Swedish team!
    • There are things I find pathetic, but saying a competition is unnecessary right after you don't qualify for it is the typical display of a loser. Pietro Maschio, when Conegliano qualifies for the Club World Cup next time, should refuse to participate like the Polish clubs do and stop spouting nonsense.
    • The biggest surprise is that Ranefur (rank 70) won over LSD!
    • Never wanted something to be more wrong then I did now... synchronized skating and no ice cross    And of course we'll probably win the gold medal in it because it's a sport that I hate, the same thing happened with "breaking" aka breakdancing in 2024.
    • No surprise — it’s the result of months of controversy, including media backlash. It all started with the federation’s decision not to select Romei, who is very close to Costantini, for the Olympic Games, and to call up Rebecca Mariani instead. In recent months, the Romeo/Costantini duo allegedly tried to push out Lo Deserto as well, and these are the results…
