still no qualification system?

I think they will be published only next year, based on the information in Equestrian Qualification System + the fact that we didn't know the weight classes in weightlifting

IFs have until December 2025 to send their proposals. IOC will review and approve the qualification systems in early 2026, so no official qualification systems until February 2026, but some IFs will publish their proposals before that.

It’s mainly team sports that interest me.

Basketball already published an article explaining their proposal (Men: https://about.fiba.basketball/en/our-sport/basketball/national-team-competition-systems/olympic-mens-basketball-tournaments / Women: https://about.fiba.basketball/en/our-sport/basketball/national-team-competition-systems/olympic-womens-basketball-tournaments), as well as volleyball (https://www.insidethegames.biz/articles/1138613/fivb-los-angeles-2028-calendar). No full proposal known yet from hockey, but at least we know that FIH Pro League will give one quota each season.

The FEI has officially approved the equestrian PDFs, which means that the United States formally has the nine equestrian quotas.

    • There will be specialized double sculls...just not for an NOC if it is entering singles specialists.   Either enter 2 singles specialists, or 1 XD specialist pair.   But they can in theory compete in both events, I guess, if they qualify...our top M, I think, does both.   But there are 17M, 17W, and 30 Pairs allotted in the quota, so I don't think the intent is that every singles entry will be in doubles.   (Perhaps this gets to fall in line with Weightlifting, where due to max entry quota, an NOC can't enter in every event, even if they have the best athletes...here, unless you have a pair who qualifies in both.)

    • I read the Olympic qualification documents for weightlifting. A country can have the opportunity to send a maximum of 4 athletes in one gender, but the conditions are very strict.
    • world champion Jessica Schilder opened her season up with 19.78 in France.
    • wait! what???   so, there won't be specialized double sculls, but those boats would have to feature 2 single specialists if a Nation wants to enter 2 proper singles M+W??? tell me I misread the expalaination...
    • Yeah, they do get broadcast pretty regularly.  I remember even back in Bode Miller's day they would show the training.
