Using the Team Points Table here are the Top 10 most improved nations

1. :USA +31

2. :GER +30

3. :RSA +23

4. :FRA +22

5. :CHN +17

6. :NZL +16

7. :TTO +15

8. :BOT +13

8. :POR +13

10. :SUI +12

Interestingly enough, the United States had a drop of 3 medals relative to 2023, but their depth has increased quite a bit. Germany on the other hand, went from 0 medals in 2023 to 5 at this edition.

The Top 10 biggest drops relative to 2023 are as follows:

1. :ETH -42

2. :JAM -41

3. :GBR -36

4. :CAN -26

5. :NOR -20

6. :UGA -17

7. :PER -11

8. :AUS -10

8. :IND -10

10. :BUR -8

10. :ROU -8

10. :SLO -8

Nations like Ethiopia, Great Britain, and Norway saw a sharp decline in medals while nations like Jamaica and Canada didn't see much change in medals, but lost a lot of depth.

Italy: +11 (62 vs 51), but compared to 2017: +53 (62 vs 9). We have been making great but systematically progress since 2017, but we are still a miss a little more of gold medals.

Like I said, it's not like we have sports newspapers. Most regular newspapers have a sports section, of course, but no idea where to find front pages of those. We don't really have a "front page culture" anyway :p

But yeah, that 4x100m bronze, what the hell :hyper:

Awesome young team as well (except for Burnet), I know they've been promising this season, but yeah, was of course not expecting this :d

Our fastest sprinter Rafael Bouju was even missing. He was inhuren (again) in the indoor season, and just recently made his comeback.

in the post race interview they said that they saw the rain as an advantage as they had trained in the rain to be prepared for what they called “Dutch Weather”.

De Volkskrant has a picture of Xavi Mo-Ajok on the front page of its sport section. Good day yesterday, with two medals in the women’s TT at the world champs and our women’s under 23 3x3 team winning the world title.

quick reminder that this guy doesn't know what he's talking about, whinges when we don't take world ranking athletes, then whinges when we do and surprise surprise they don't make finals (because there's a reason we only took them on rankings)

Because they getting a lot of backlash in the media. And cutting how many they take to 2027 might be one way of saying Ed reinvesting money into fewer but spending more on them individually to improve their medal chances .

Machuchik, however, was a little disappointment for me: she winning only a bronze medal, ex aequo. She had a weak second half of the season. I don't know why? Injuries? Ukraine managed to salve that one bronze medal, and luckily, but a better performance from the entire team could have been expected. What do you think?

Yes, she had minor injury but it rather looks like the lack of emotions after winning all last year.

We could expect medals from Kokhan (with this result he would win a medal at every previous WCH) and Doroshuk. They were close and it is not about weak performance. It is about high level of competitions.

    • Hey guys, I contribute Skeleton articles for a new winter-sports focused website called "All things Snow".   I was wondering if any of you could please spare a few moments to read my latest article on the World Cup finale in Altenberg a few weeks ago.   Any feedback on length, content, or just general tips will be greatly appreciated. I'll be sure to implement them in my Olympic Skeleton recap pieces. Thanks!   https://allthingssnow.net/2026/01/19/pfeifer-and-wyatt-win-the-finale-meylemans-and-weston-seal-crystal-globes/

    • changes that go absolutely against the Italians (notoriously the top swimmers and not the best shooters in MP) 😭😭😭   now it's really time to axe MP from the Games 😈🥳
    • I think there was a feeling before the obstacle course was introduced that really, really solid endurance runners were starting to dominate - in Triathlon you might call it the Alex Yee conundrum. Personally, I don't mind at all if the 'martial' elements are reemphasised as that is the real 'soul' of the sport - Triathlon, Marathon and Road cycing are there for genuine endurace, MP is in some senses a 'soldiery' test - one reason I thought Judo might have been a better addition than the obstacle course. But placing a higher emphasis on the fight bits over the flight bits seems a legitimate idea - though it should also increase the X-country nature of the run so that the test of a fresh shooter at the beginning is rather different from the test of a knackered one at the end. I quite like the artificial hill in rio.
