Yes, now I see that he's been DQed, which definitely opens it up a ton.  (A shame for Skotheim!  I thought he knocked it over simply because he was still regaining his balance after hitting one hurdle with a foot...like, there was no way he could have jumped it.)

Don't think he has any grounds for an appeal. He clearly knocked the hurdle over and didn't clear it.

Near disaster for Garland clattering about 4 hurdles but still finishes legally. 14.30 officially. He was 14.04 in Goetzis.

Owens-Delerme very much in medal position. Who knows, if Garland messes up entirely and he himself as an amazing rest of the day, something else might be possible, but he'll need some serious failures by Garland.

Sebastian Chmara still talking how many points Skottheim lost but he's been DQ already. I wonder when they notice the fact

So after six events, Garland is probably still the favourite for the gold, but despite Skotheim's DQ, his position has not necessarily been improved. Based on this season's results, he is still quite a bit in the lead, with Owens-Delerme leading the charge for silver and Neugebauer fighting it out with Kaul for bronze.

 

Based on their best decathlons, Kaul is still in it all the way, but he does have a 79m javelin throw in that one, whereas the 71m in his 'season average forecast' might be more realistic.
