Wow, epic win for :USA Jess Diggins!  :cheer:

Terrible mistake by Johaug & Weng to let two sprinters back into the race.

The heart of Diggins on display once again. She seemed out of it on the second to last climb, but found her second life on the final one and bypassed the two Norwegians like nothing. Johaug will need some time to get back into her terminator form.

The only Italian - Comarella took 39th place today... Do our girls even train in the summer? In 2023 Francesca Franchi took 5th place at the World Championships in 10 km freestyle and since then she has practically disappeared... Our current coach - Cramer had world-class results with the Russians in the past, he has been working with us for 3 years. Our team acquired a great serviceman from Sweden in the summer and still nothing. I don`t expect victories right away but at least some border of decency... The only noteworthy result of our girls is yesterday's sprint and 14th place Monsorno and I think 17th - Ganz. Distance races are still down.

To be fair, Johaug's only real goal is the 50k, today was still too short for her I guess :p

Must have been a tactical move to save energy.  She knew she had better downhill skis.

    • Well, it still hasn’t settled in an hour later.   This team has given me so many heartbreaks over the years it’s actually insane. I can’t imagine having to endure to this for multiple decades. Even if we have some luck, we’re just not destined to finish the job.   I don’t know. This sucks. Everyone in the country would be over the moon if someone told us about finishing fourth before the tournament, but it just sucks. Not getting to see them with the medals, not getting to see them cheerfuly answering questions from the media, I don’t know.   I mean, yeah, fourth place is great. No matter how the games looked like, we can claim we’re the fourth best team after the tournament, no one can take that away. But to imagine we were one game from celebrating with the players on the main square in the capital, I don’t even want to imagine. I don’t know.
