What nonsense is this? :(

The Norwegians prefer individual starts :d

The calendar is actually a bit confusing. The last classic sprint is in Falun in mid-February, then only three skating sprints, can't you add some variety?

And then there's the World Cup in Falun in mid-February. One week before the World Championships, where the Swedish national team, the home team, has already announced that the majority of the World Championship starters will be in training camp. Seriously? I can already see that almost none of the World Cup starters will be competing there ...

But even Oslo? The Oslo 50k was basically the number one big event on the annual calendar..

As for Falun: I wonder if it will make the field smaller or just 'weaker'. Important for the Olympic qualification..

Few days after Oslo they have the WCh. Two 50km in a week seems a bit extreme

Before Oslo :p

That was never really different though, maybe with 1 or 2 days more than this time, but that's about it.

  • 1 month later...

On the Ski Classics Tour they are doing that every weekend for about three months!

However, the tracks are not really comparable in terms of profile and the athletes are also used to this in terms of training volume.
And the World Cup starters could certainly start two 50ks in two weeks, but after that they would definitely be out and if the next race is two days later, it's just not feasible.

@heywoodu how's Bruna Moura plans for this season? We would like to :cheer::cheer::cheer:

December is probably going to be focused on either Italy/Austria or Norway, but the plans are still being made as we speak. Renting a car, driving from the Netherlands down to Italy, finding accomodations and help with preparing the skis and all that...trying to make it as an independent 'solo' athlete is...hard :p

I can't go and help out, because we got the keys to our house (finally) and there's lots of work to be done there, so it's all happening at the same time and the mind is getting crazy (for both of us) :hairpull:

    • That’s good news. There’s been no mention of the team in the local papers at all. If they go, I think they’ll be the first Philippine athletes to represent the country in a team event at the World Games.
