Apparently now Uhlaender is appealing to the IOC to add another spot and give it to her 

 

Good grief, it's a US selection issue ultimately, they qualified two, how they award them is up to them... but she doesn't like their answer, and knows she has no legal standing to go thru those channels or CAS, so goes right to the IOC looking for special treatment.

Even worse, the US Olympic Committee is also asking for an additional spot for her. The same one that was responsible to select her or another athlete.

And the head of russian NF said that they would send a letter to demand quotas for them too.

Complete nonsense, so the appeal won't go through hopefully, but if somehow her and the federation manages to brainwash the IOC into giving her a quota I know who I'll be rooting against

the last time I remember a late appeal being successful was  women's bob in 2010. And that was pretty straightforward continental representation that was missed so they got to go as an extra quota.

It is hard to imagine any appeal that does not end with the american team required to fix it themselves.

That appeal was actually completely founded in the qualification document both based on the text and based on the spirit of the document (and I’m really shocked the IBSF got it wrong in the first place)

 

The US appeal doesn’t even make any sense. The US was not anywhere near getting a third sled, if they are unhappy with how American athletes are ranked relative to each other they can send Uhlander to the games ahead of Ro.

It's all just been a big PR stunt. 

It's ultimately a national selection issues, and even if you accept her version of events, the USABS is completely in control of the selection, process and criteria. If she wants to complain, appeal and sue, it should be to them, and it should be over who gets that second spot. 

 

But, I guess they figure they can lean on the IOC and get an extra spot invented out to this air instead. I also notice this latest drive seems to be spearheaded by the USOPC, and doesn't mention the USABS at all...

Pretty much. If this was the difference between gaining a third sled, they may have an argument; not a good one, but at least an argument. This is an internal manner and should be handled accordingly.
