Glad to see Kolesnik did it

Their Exhibition Gala routine (at least today) was to the Trans-Siberian Orchestra version of "Shchedryk" :)

Women: Amber Glenn, Alysa Liu, Isabeau Levito

Can’t think of a more likable trio of figure skater sent by one country to the games dating back to when I started watching xD

The US is lucky to have these three.

The US is lucky to have these three.

We (for better or for worse) have Tara Lipinski and Johnny Weir as our commentators, and Tara is super thrilled to see these three together.

The question remains as to which color medal we can achieve, and can we get more than one?  The Japanese women are pretty insane...but can they skate cleanly?  (That's how Alysa got the Grand Prix Final gold, because the Japanese women all had some mistakes.)

If I were a betting man...

Men: Ilia gold (obvious...nobody will disagree)

Women: Amber or Alysa will get on the podium...potentially both...but idk what color, and I don't know in what order.  Amber skated cleanly at nationals, but isn't consistent...but she has the triple axel.  Alysa is consistent, but doesn't have the triple axel.  (Also - Alysa just broke out a new program at Nationals...might she try something crazy and try out the 3A in addition?  I think only if she's super confident, and I've never seen her do it.)

Pairs: No medal

Dance: Chock/Bates Gold, but close to Cizeron/Fournier Beaudry.

Team: Gold

For worse imo. The only context where I have enjoyed either of them was when Weir was the US commentator for Eurovision a couple years. That was fun. He has the right kind of energy for that, and I’m sure both of them would be great on reality TV (I don’t watch the Traitors but they are on the current US season).

I don’t think either of them really has the right personality to commentate figure skating. They are a bit too… catty.

I’m def gonna either watch the World Feed or I’ll VPN to the CBC coverage for figure skating.

Not going to disagree with anything you said.  :)  I love Grand Prix season since we have ready access to the World Feed.

Khm, do we know the fate of the :UZB license in pairs?

I did not see confirmation of their entry.

If they fail :FRA must get full license (team + individual) and one more place for team event will be available, am I correct?

Based on their final team announcement, it looks like :FIN Finland rejected an ice dance quota.

However, the IOC decided to reallocate it to :SWE Sweden who were the first reserve instead of :POL Poland to help them complete the team event.

According to here there are no eligible Uzbekistan pair teams. So the French pair will get to compete individually and the Polish ice dancers get a team event quota. Korea would have gotten a pair team event quota but they don’t have any

Well I hope Poland gets the quota after all because it's generally ridiculous we can field a team without ice dance pair...

I am unashamed, at getting nothing done.
