By the way. It looks like no AIN`s will be in biathlon by the start of the Olympics.

Russians filed an appeal to CAS to get AIN statuses in biathlon. But IBU did not agree to have hearings with short procedure. So the decisons are not expected before the end of qulifying period. (FIS could do the same but its top-officials prefer to help russians be back as quick as possible).

 

I would like to see Dolidovich at the Games. Because she is a real refugee of the relatively high level.

How are the points calculated? OK, I understand that there are points based on a result in a single race. But, how are the points calculated based on trimester (average of best two results or myb every trimester has 33% of the total ibu qualification points)? For e.g. Croatian Iva Morić started to compete for Croatia one month ago and is currently fifth below the line. If she qualifies, Croatia will be able to compete in relay, for the first time in history, I think.

Iva Moric is actually 2nd below line, probably even first below line as Germany might return one quota. 
 

I think they use the average of 3 best results during last 3 trimester.

Is this list really correct? 
 

Matija Legovic improved his points mainly due to Junior Cups. But official document says only WC/IBU cup are Qualifying Events. 
 

if the Junior cups excluded the list would change a lot.

I don't think the Junior Cup has ever given IBU points. Unless I'm very mistaken, it's always only been World and IBU Cup (plus their respective main championships).

 

Edit: apparently nowadays the Junior Cup does indeed give IBU points as well. That should count then, I don't think it's specifically about events X and Y, but about the top-12 athletes from non-qualified countries on the IBU points list. It would be super weird if they base it on an available list, but then for the decisions, take off certain results.

New info has come out, that  Sivert Bakken when found, was wearing his high altitude mask. As we know those masks reduce the oxygen, that goes in the body. And with Bakken's previous health conditions, that should have been a red light... The Norwegian Biathlon Federation has forbidden all of it's athletes to wear altitude masks until further notice.

Seems IBU points from Junior cup does not count. The Croatian federation published a ranking as of end of 2025 and Legovic is 6th there with 65points. Incl junior cup his points are around 37.
