:CAN on path for a comfortable win against :USA

Not so fast :p

Edit: Jeez we suck. Had a big lead, and now keep giving up 6s

Typically a 195 is a good score in T20 and we were on pace for an easy win. Then after the 8th over it all came crashing down.

The pressure was too much for them.

Again we weren't expected to do much, but it is heart breaking to see them lose this way.

Viewing this with little interest but I used to have the impression that Canada was traditionally stronger than the US in what many here would call Commonwealth type sports like cricket, rugby and (field) hockey.

Seems to have changed. Maybe due to changing immigration patterns.

To be honest that was a comfortable win for the US. 14 balls to spare, 7 wicket win that's a thrashing.

That's how it ended, but for a while it looked as if Canada would win by 40 runs. Then it all fell apart.

The first part of the match was very disappointing for Sri Lanka. I expected a much better performance :(

Although I'm always a bit loathe to judge a performance until both sides have batted (as it could be the pitch rather than anything else), Sri Lanka have been hit and miss in T20 in recent years. At the last WC they lost fairly comprehensively to all the top tier sides they played and also lost to Namibia as well.

Agree to an extent, though what's noticable is Canada's particular relative weakness at those sports, preferring baseball, Canadian gridiron football, ice hockey and (for netball, the other commonwealthy team sport), Basketball.

As for patterns of immigration, they are probably similar enough. The big difference, really, is Soccer and the number of futbol crazy hispanic Americans, though the sport has clearly reached a tipping point in the US

    • Yeah. It was pretty bad that they cancel the contract with the original creative director after 7 months of work. I feel like politics, in this particular context of the changing of prime minister and the cabinet, may had caused changes in organizational decisions regarding the Sea Games including the direction of the opening ceremony.
    • That's what I figured.  Wouldn't be a proper lead up to an Olympics without some media-fueled fearmongering.
    • Today : Jordan 3-0 Egypt  This team will surprise us
    • option no.2 for sure, as it's been all this shitstorm organized by the nhl owners through their embedded reporters   ps not that the north american audience looks really aware of the hockey rules and habits outside the nhl (and around their game, too, since they look not to know that just a couple of weeks ago they played 2 nhl matches on an ice sheet of the exact same size of Milan's olympic arena)
    • Are we supposed to take Daly's word for it or is this just public posturing to try and shame the Milan organizers (which they certainly deserve for all the delays) in order to threaten NHL participation?
    • Well that was a disappointing opening ceremony. Not to mention the boss is late too...   Anyway this is another victim of bureaucracy, the initial creative director quit in October and we get this kind of show.   Original plan: https://www.facebook.com/share/v/17EVayTpig/
    • Japan missed their last shot with hammer in the 10th last night against the Philippines for them to stay alive.  USA's remaining 2 games are against Philippines and Netherlands, so they have a tough road ahead, although they've already beaten Japan, so that helps for tiebreaker purposes.
    • They have already beaten Japan, so a win would them in a strong place.
