Awesome Irish gold! Bronze was the best possible, Klaver just was not good at all, Bonevacia was...mediocre. Klein Ikkink was excellent, Bol was...decent, especially considering the Italian guy got in her way at the exchange and she needed to brake to avoid him. Anyway, without that it would have been silver at best, Ireland was too good.

Klaver was poor but only by her own incredibly high standards!  She was still 0.3s quicker than everyone bar Adeleke on that second leg. Bonevacia was the worst of your legs, for me, by quite a way.

Yes, but that is the standard one has to hold athletes to, especially in relays. Klaver should normally be about a second faster, that's part of why the Dutch team was the pre-race favourite. Bonevacia wasn't great, but definitely would not normally be as much faster as Klaver would be.

It was to be expected. Grovdal has no sprint finish and she could only win a medal with breaking up the pack with pace.

:ESP Garcia with NR and Spain steals bronze in the last three meters unlike the race walk.

Yes and no. Bonevacia is a 44.5 man at his best, and should be expected to run around 45 consistently. He was 46.1 here. That's as far off his best as Lieke was.

By the way. Spain tried to protest to get bronze in the race walk. But the result stands.

But that's not the point. Bonevacia does not run around 45 consistently. He should based on previous years, perhaps, but he doesn't and can't realistically be expected to do so. Klaver can realistically be expected to run under 50 seconds, as she so often does. This was just very poor for her, as she admitted very clearly herself as well. "I just totally lost control", is basically what she said as explanation for her rather big underperformance.

Again, I'm not disputing that Lieke was poor by her standards. But I just don't get why you are seemingly cutting him more slack than you are her!

    • This came out on the official website yesterday. Updated list of events and competition schedules in Japanese.   Padel and Teqball are on the schedules. Looks like two events for Padel and five for Teqball.   https://www.aichi-nagoya2026.org/files/common/260427競技スケジュール/01_日本語/01_アジア/第20回アジア競技大会競技プログラム.pdf   https://www.aichi-nagoya2026.org/files/common/260427競技スケジュール/01_日本語/01_アジア/第20回アジア競技大会デイリースケジュール.pdf   https://www.aichi-nagoya2026.org/files/common/260427競技スケジュール/01_日本語/01_アジア/第20回アジア競技大会セッションスケジュール.pdf   On the sports programme PDF, Padel is #25 and Teqball is #38.
    • looks like the agreement is the international federations are in fact hosting the event, not the AG organizers, so everything is up to them to make it happen.   Teqball is now confirmed to have 5 events (singles and doubles) does it mean easy 5 gold medals for Thailand ?   Padel is not 100% confirmed yet. I assume there are still talks ongoing between the IF and the Japanese organizers.
    • I feel like this year's Eurovision is more wide open than ever 😂   There isn't a clear favorite, and that makes everything more exciting. Finland is looking strong, sure, but Ukraine always knows how to surprise people and connect with them. I was checking out the odds a bit, and I was struck by how quickly they're rising.   By the way, I found a site that compares the odds pretty clearly: https://casasdeapuestaseurovision.com/   It’s nothing special, but it gives you an idea of how things are shaping up before the semifinals. Although we all know how this goes… at Eurovision, everything can change in a matter of minutes
