great national championships for 16 year old Tajus Juška-4 GOLDS and 1 bronze, DEFEATED Dana rapšy twice,the 100 meter freestyle win coming out of lane 1 once again,so many age group records and a Lithuanian senior record in the 100 butterfly,already legeandary at age 16,can't wait to see more of him,even as soon as this year. -

The thing is, counting football players in the athlete quota doesn't even really make any sense. They don't stay in the village, and they bring in more revenue than they cost. Like I get why people dislike the men's football tournament, but it would be an absolutely braindead move to remove it.

Wouldn't 8 be better then, if 16 is too much (which, especially for the men, it is)? Then you can at least have a decent format, for which you need 4, 8, 16 or 32 teams (well, or 64 or 128 ). -

This is true. In you get bigger turnouts for winter sport events if you hold them in a village - because everyone turns up - than you would if you held them in a huge city.
