It's almost enough to make UK Athletics management look competent.

 beaten by  85-81 yesterday in what should have been a relatively straightforward match. Kind of sums up  performance over the last couple of years - losing matches that they should have been able to put to bed.

Given the mess that the national federation has been going through over the last couple of weeks, the  basketball team put in 2 pretty solid performances in their World Cup qualifying pool.

 

They came agonizingly close to defeating  but conceding 9 points in 9 seconds including a 3 pointer with the final throw of the game meant they were on the wrong side of an 89-88 defeat.

 

They bounced back yesterday with a 90-84 win over  and currently sit top of their table. They'll be back on court at the end of February with a double header against

 swept aside by  93-57 in the latest world cup qualifying match. They will play again on Monday.

The draw for the second qualifying round for 2027 Women's Eurobasket has been made. Team  have been drawn in Group M alongside ,  and ..

 

 need to finish in the top 2 to qualify for the final tournament and should be able to do so pretty comfortably -  are the top seeds in the group as the world number 2 team.  are the second seeds with a world ranking of 24;  are ranked 41 in the world and  52nd.

 

The action kicks off in November with the first 3 matches. The second window takes place in February next year.
