Thailand streams very well including local boxing tournaments. Why aren't they coming now? In IWF WC they streamed group B C D etc on Thai weightlifting channel

Results for first sessions are out. To be fair, I wasn’t expecting them this quickly (even if lack of live scoring and streaming shouldn’t be acceptable)

The final days will be on YouTube too. There is no streaming until then

I meant specifically the Olympic Channel, which claims to cover all rounds. But it says I'm geoblocked even though no one has the rights to the tournament here (ROU). The same was true for Busto Arsizio (i.e. no rights holders for ROU), which I could watch without problems. Not sure what the problem is.

I do not see information that they stream preliminaries. It looks like nobody streams it at all, so it is noot a question of copyright.

Bohdan posted media from our national federatiion. They posted results of Ukrainian boxers quickly during the first tournament - and are doing the same here

because it's not up to them (as it wasn't up to any Italian TV when the 1st world qualifier was held here)

anything related to the organization of these events is completely in the hands of the IOC

if there's someone to blame (also for the scandalous results, should they happen), it's the 1976 Fencing Olympic Champion in charge of the circus named IOC

    • I don't like these convoluted mixed events. I mean, it is fine if there is a clear, not too weird format, but more and more silly mixed events are coming up just to have a 'mixed' event.   I don't mind the format in Archery, Athletics (there the main problem is the schedule), Biathlon and Shooting (also not in freestyle Swimming but that one is not Olympic). Naturally also fine with MD in the Tennis sports. But all others are pretty convoluted already and there is just more to come.
    • Thursday April 10th, 2025 Round-Robin Day 4 Results (GMT -6)   16:00 -  United States 31 - 22 Puerto Rico  18:00 -  Mexico 21 - 27 Cuba       Provisional Standing After Day 4:  6 Pts (+28 GD)  4 Pts (+10 GD)  4 Pts (+1 GD)  2 Pts (-2 GD)  0 Pts (-37 GD) - Eliminated from medal round.
    • Another heart breaking result   I'm resigned to see them competing at next's years IIB
    • The problem is XD is a fun event, but its essentially a social event, and lags far behind the others both at Grand Slams and Olympics - no quotas of its own, very limited prize money - as the indivisual Olympic tennis has got more and more important, the top players have limited thhier doubles participation to the main M and W D.   a team format, however, gets some fo that BJK/Davis cup magic, and because it'll b enovel, they can REALLY mess around with it - for example, a three set match could consists of MS first set, WS second and, if needed mixed doubles decider - light work load and quick competition. could play three matches a day if needed   Would not be incredibly shocked if BOTH golf and tennis adopted a quickfire 'Olympic' format - Singles, singles, doubles - (In golf it would be 9 hole matchplay with sets replaced with 9 hole matches, and the order men's indi, women's indi, mixed foursome   On Compound, nice to see it but odd too for GB - Ella Gibson is one of the outstanding shooters of her time, but GBR don't seem to have a male compound shooter worth a candle   On voluntary team sports (Flag football, cricket, lacrosse) I smell a rankings heavy approach with continental rep limited to 3 - though they may be real sneaky with cricket and go host (USA), Euro 1(GBR), Oceania 1(Aus), Asia (1)(India) Africa 1(South Africa) and Final Qualifier 1, heavily loaded with Asia and West Indies individual teams, perhaps Ireland and New Zealand for the appearance of balance.   The Iroquois question still unresolved. GBR would be a rankings pick in everything bar men's flag football   Wonder about the Team gymnastics - Super quick fire high peril format maybe of just one gymnast per apparatus, with the floor and vault reserved to the women so each sex provide only 4 scores - would make it feel different to the existing team events, and make USA a less guaranteed gold. Qualifiation by highest score in overall Q in each event - even if that score comes from same athlete in multiple events

    • https://worldboxing.org/ioc-confirms-gender-parity-in-boxing-at-la28-with-seven-weight-classes-for-both-men-and-women/       Well I didn't see this coming but eh world boxing have gotten rid of men's flyweight!!!!! Non Olympics weights are now 50kg, 75kg and 85kg for the men and 48kg, 80kg and 80+kg for the women. I think it is good news that they haven't added womens heavyweight but men's flyweight being gone is a shocker especially for "smaller" nations. In Rio like we had both 49 and 52kg below 56kg but now flyweight is gone completely. I mean it is tricky to have 10 weightclasses and then have only 7 for the Olympics and for both the 10 and the 7 to be evenly spaced out but like im very surprised that its flyweight thats gone and not one of 55,60,65kg. To be honest selfishly from an Irish perspective at least for this cycle I don't hate it but flyweight was one of the most competitive divisions so it being gone will hurt the weaker (well i couldn't make the small joke twice) boxing countries.   Just for context the Paris weights were (M51, M57, M63.5, M71, M80, M92 and M92+ and then W50, W54, W57, W60, W66, W75)
