Entry list for the European qualifier, the list is not final but will have only few changes

https://arena.uww.org/weight-category/1eedaad3-a110-6ece-86c8-65c730caa373

the seeding is correct but most of better wrestlers are unseeded making it almost useless.

no Armenia at all, for obvious reasons  it seems participating here is necessary to compete in the last World Qualifier. but Armenia will be an exception and UWW will allow them to wrestle.

Russia didn't register a freestyle team yet. and their 97kg Greco guy (and that's Sargsian and not the Oly Champs Evloev) is wrongly listed for 97kg FS. they will enter a freestyle team for sure.

no Kurugliev for GRE at 86kg which means he still has paperwork to do.

No :GBR entries is disappointing, we usually give these a crack and send a handful.

Isn't it a bit early for the entry list, we have a whole month until then :d

No, because it's common for some sports to have an entry list in advance for like couple of weeks - a month.

When can we expect entry list for Asian qualifiers? I think we will be sending two different teams for Asian championships & Asian qualifiers.

I expect them to release the list in a week or two. Asian Champs list should be published first though

but with UWW there is no timeline for this, they publish the lists whenever they want :d for example African Champs and African/Oceania Qualifier will happen before the Euro Qualifiers but still no list which makes me wonder if there is a change :mumble:

yeah it makes sense to send two different teams, I expect most Asian top teams (Iran, Japan, Korea, India, China, KGZ, UZB, KAZ, MGL) to do the same.

    • There is a transgender volleyball player here in Brazil; there was even a recent controversy (this year) when a city banned her from playing in a certain competition, which ended up in court, ultimately in her favor.   But the situation is much simpler than that; the reason for this decision is because of the two female boxers who won at Paris 2024 (who apparently are not transgender).

    • there were rumors about it for quite a while, but as I wrote, it was never confirmed so, it might well be just some haters throwing out some shit on her 🤷
    • Where did you get that?   I'm not sure I would have considered her to have dissapeared from out of nowhere, at least since after Tokyo... she did win medals at the next two World Championships. I think it's just recently, she's been struggling with injury which is why she's completely out of form...
    • Even though I'm not the biggest fan of her, always sucks to see a career ending through injury and not on your own terms
    • This is going to have an effect on very likely 0 athletes, possibly 1 or 2 we don't really know about yet. It's really mostly the cheapest possible way for them to make a sort of political statement, without having any significant backlash since it won't really affect anyone at the top level of international sports.   Edit: worded a bit wrong, I was thrown off by everywhere 'trans women' being mentioned as the target of this. Of course there is also the somewhat larger category of DSD and the likes, which will certainly affect a few athletes - unfortunately they are often thrown under the bus or mentioned as 'not really women anyway' or something like that, despite, you know, being.

    • People focus on trans people because it's easier to pinpoint the affected athletes. Meanwhile it's the athletes with (suspected) DSDs that will have tougher time to convince the authorities and the public opinion that they belong to women's sports.
