in this 1st World Cup stage of the year, :IND:GBR:GER:KOR got 2 Gold medals each, meanwhile :KAZ:ESP:GRE:QAT:CZE:USA:EGY all got one Gold

 

in total, good 22 Countries have been on the podium at least once in the 15 events held in the Egyptian Capital

Ever the pessimist, but I have a feeling he is going to miss out. His form is just way too hit-and-miss (pardon the pun) and he hasn't been able to perform when it really matters so I don't think he will be able to get it done at either the World qualifier or European champs.

 

If he doesn't get a quota at those events, then I don't think he'll get it through the rankings as there are at least 2 athletes ahead of him who don't currently have quotas in that list.

    • It's waaaay too expensive & inconvenient. Basically WOG minus the bobsleigh track & indoor arena for figure skating/hockey(which is the easy part of Olympic bid). Just won't happen anytime soon. Winter sports are too facility dependant and the entire alpine skiing requires a separate venue.
    • The ISU is looking into a combined World Championships for its 4 disciplines.   The FIS tried this and it appears the progress there has stalled.

    • Also a first: never before has a Dutch pair participated in the games, according to media rapports.
    • The Technical director of the Dutch Olympic Committee has, using his discretionary powers, decided to include them in the team. He cites “extra-ordinary circumstances”, but has not stated what they are. The use of these powers is quite rare. They were used in 2022 to nominate an alpine-skier.
