A very promising Australian breaststroker, Sienna Toohey, almost broke Leisel Jones' 14 year old age record (1:08.30) in the 100 breast (long course) earlier today clocking 1:08.39.  Australia has been struggling to find a breaststroker that  can consistently compete with the world's best since Jones left her prime more than a decade ago and Toohey is looking very promising and she's more sprint oriented than Jones was.

Draft entry lists for Edinburgh International Meet in early March have been published. As expected, there's plenty of :GBR names there - including a lot of our prospective Olympic team - but also a fair few swimmers from :IRL :NED :FRA

The first biggish Australian meet, Vic Open, will be on next weekend where we're get our first look at McKeon, McKeown, Pallister, Ikee and a few others. McKeown in particular usually produces some impressive swims early in the season. Psych sheet

The next one after that is in mid March which should have a much bigger field and usually gives a pretty good picture of who's on track to have a big year.

Supposedly it'll be streamed on the Swimming Victoria YouTube channel for international viewers. The full meet page is here.

:JPN Yamato Fukasawa with a 2:07.07 in the men’s 200m breaststroke at the Konami Open!

That time would’ve been good enough for gold at Doha 2024!

At the ACC time trial today, :USA Chris Guiliano swam a 47.49 100m freestyle. That checks in as the 5th fastest American performer of all time.

US 4x100m relay in good shape heading into this summer.

Geez, the “wait till the race is finished” rule has been around for, what, 30 years now?

    • And this is the final Medal Table fo the XX Bolivarian Games in
    • Agreed. But OTOH, the chances of a Male Team pursuit medal also seem rather slim at the moment, so why the hassle of dropping someone.
