In Italy some athletes (big names too, like Gibilisco) switch to bob at the end of their career. Of course, not as driver but as brakeman

Everything is possible. Many bobsledder started as crewman (I forgot this word when I was writing last message :d ) but later changed to driver. And because we are talking about 2026 I was curious if Tortu said something more about his plans. Maybe he want to start as crewman for 1-2 years and later change to driver?

He would have to give up on his whole athletics career pretty quickly if he is to become a driver.

Would be a weird decision for someone who placed 5th at Europeans and 7th at Worlds before age 22...

Maybe it would but who says that every man acts logically? ;) But serious. Everything depends on what is his goal with this changing of discipline. Is it only fun for him? A great adventure which he can start because of home olympics? Or he wants to fight for an olympic medal on which he doesn't have big chance in athletics?

I think that it will be only a small adventure for the home Olympics... His focus his athletics, for now

    • That's kinda standard procedure when you only have one race at a given venue. Adelboden used to be held on Tuesdays or Wednesdays when they only run a single GS back in the day.
    • Not sure why this Kronplatz GS is always in the middle of the day on a workday.. I've said it many times how much I enjoy the night events, but if they don't have the money for lights, just have it on an empty weekend, or on a holiday around Christmas/ New Years. It's stupid to have it on a random Tuesday at noon..
    • With any luck it's where slopestyle will be at the 2038 Olympics.
    • Brignone & Hector bomb out in 2nd run and Alice Robinson wins the Kronplatz GS after a massive 2nd run. Brignone had 0,81 advantage after the first split and made a simple error so it's Colturi as the best Italian in 4th. Bassino DNS in the 1st run but I don't know why.
