[OFF TOPIC] Eurovision Song Contest 2024

Recommended Posts

It's likely that :ISR will withdrew from this year contest, their entry is supposed to be called "October Rain" and includes those words in song. EBU will probalby force them to change the lyrics and the title, but Israeli television KAN announced today that they will not change anything, if EBU will still demand the change then Israel will withdraw.

The final week of :SMR selection started Monday with the first (of 5) Semifinals, 129 song will fight for 8 place in final.

The final of "Una voce per San Marino" will be Saturday: 16 song, 8 invited artists and 8 winners of semifinals.

This is the third edition of the national selection format developed by SMRTV to determine the Sammarinese entry to the Eurovision Song Contest.

Loredana Bertè is among automatic finalists in :SMR selections, I keep fingers for her, maybe she will finally enter the Eurovision stage.

PS. If anybody care about, few days ago I was on concert, in my home city, of last year San Marino entrant, Piqued Jacks and once more I will say that they didn't deserved to finish last with nul points. Their song maybe wasn't the best but surely wasn't the worst one + those guys are so friendly and polite. I wish they will try to compete again, in near or farer futer, with good song, like their one of the latest songs called "The Gum" :p

Today croatia will choose their song

Baby lasanga it's the maximum favorite, but Dora it's a really special place, with a really special taste...so who knows jajaja

Btw. Results of top6 are below. It's yet worthy to mention that Baby Lasagna was backup entry, he competed in Dora only because one artist had to withdraw from the event.

On San Marino national final Slovenian band, called Boom, finished 5th. A member of this boy band is son of Nuša Derenda, our entrant in 2001, where she took 7th with her song "Energy."

    • Slovakia pulled the goalie out in the Overtime and played 4 vs 3  for more than 2 minutes    We suddeenly pulled out goalie and have control of the puck for like 2 minutes in the first 2 minutes of the overtime but without soring than lost the puck and give up a 2 on 0 breakaway empty net goal for the czechs    Interesting strategy

    • Yeah, there's certainly things to complain about from an athletes' perspective, but snow should really not be much of an issue indeed. Mostly things like the enormous geographical spread and it's consequences like there not being one big opening ceremony and everything being spread around a bunch of small Olympic 'villages'/accomodations - so not really the Olympic feeling and atmosphere for the athletes since they'll mostly just stay around athletes of their own sport as in any regular competition.   We'll be going very near to the Olympic area in a few weeks (Coppa Italia in Falcade), let's see what things look like by then.
    • need to work on the celebrations... or just drop them?   Btw, these jerseys suck and I remember Zambia playing in all white with red numbers. At least they have orange on national flag but still...
    • British Columbia in general and Vancouver in particular are awesome and it’s great more people got to discover it thanks to Vancouver 2010.
    • And of course the British being famous for curmudgeons, there were always plenty of curmudgeons to quote.  Then of course from the opening ceremony and the cycle race on the very first morning it was obviously going to be triumph, so everyone just shut up for a while.
    • Yep, the amount of emergency services I heard at some point was a little extreme (for our little town), so I checked what was going on and saw they were all being called to a specific location. Until then I thought maybe it was part of a parade of trucks and agricultural vehicles that was on it's way from the next town over, decorated with lights and stuff.   Since I knew it was on the parade route, I was sure one of those big vehicles had hit people somehow (there were, besides the many vehicles, also two helicopters on the way, meaning it certainly wasn't about a single victim).   We picked our bikes and went to take a look, absolutely chaos in the area. Never saw so many services combined together, fire trucks from 20km away, ambulance after ambulance came racing by, people frantically trying to make way for them (the roads weren't really closed yet).   While there we heard someone who had been close say that the parade hadn't arrived yet and what seemed to have happened was that a car from the other side came onto the roundabout and simply never turned. "It's a massive drama over there, unbelievable", he said.   Quite quickly rumours started spreading of course, the first one turned out to be true: a middle aged (local) woman was behind the wheel and seems to have become unwell. Local security camera showed the car going at high speed right before the roundabout.   Plenty of rumours going around in terms of who were involved of course, and people keeping each other up to date to see if they know this or that family and such...   Never expected my little town to be big news in the Netherlands, even including some breaking broadcasts, live reporters and everything, damn. By far the biggest thing to happen here in my memory

    • For me, these were very good Olympics, and British sport benefited greatly from them, and is still benefiting. I fear it will be much worse here. Canada also benefited very good on Vancouver 2010 – this is very good see in the medal standings of subsequent Winter Games after 2010 and earlier.
