For Spain wins a medal in 12 years in Athletics ... Orlando has had a hard time not to compete for three years, a little understanding for him.

I would have preferred him to win the gold :d

But yes, this was a beautiful medal :)

It was his own fault that he wasnt allowed to compete, no reason to feel sorry for him. Spain naturalizing everyone who they can is also business as usual, sadly for you Mirotic, Ibaka, Diego Costa and so on all didnt help you much.

Here is a hint for your athletics federation:

Why not naturalize Peinado, Tenorio or Rojas? They all could become medal contenders in the future ...

Edit: This is not a medal for Spain, your country had absolutely nothing to do with this medal. I would have had no problem with one of your race walkers or Beitia winning a medal, but Ortega won the medal for himself and only thanks to Cuba, they deserved this medal.

Attachment is the great fabricator of illusions; reality can be obtained only by someone who is detached.

Spain no longer has a chance of winning gold. Miguel Angel Lopez was a candidate in the 20Km Race Walk, but failed. Spain will not win gold in athletics. :(

Beitia still has a chance ;)

Not the biggest favourite or something, but saying she has no chance for gold would just be unrealistic :d

Much, much, much weirder things have already happened during these Olympics.

Ezekiel Kemboi walked through the mixed zone for the press and said it was the last track race of his career. Happy retirement Ezekiel!

French team appeals against Kembois Bronze medal. They claim he left track and must be DQ.

That's right, but it is very difficult. Beitia is before his last chance, is 37 and retires after Rio. Spain is having a tough time in Athletics, he withdrew all its figures.

You have to trust the progression of Sergio Fernandez and Bruno Hortelano, but the world can not do anything.

Apparently even the analysts on French TV say it's a stupid protest and won't have any chance, because of some rules around the water hurdle. If that dirty Mekhissi gets a medal in this way, I won't ever watch a men's steeple chase race again..at least not with him in it.

Of course it will be difficult, but she is often great at championships and big moments, so if she has a great day and a bit of luck, it's really possible :)

I gave her 20% chance for gold :p

    • Cuba put some pressure on in the 6th inning but only scored 1 run. Still 5-2 lead for Canada
    • if don't make it to the 2nd round (and then the "gold medal match"), I fear it would be the nail on the coffin of mlb players going to LA2028 (which I'm still convinced in the end they won't go anyway, but this is another story and involves also a full 2027 season cancelled because of a strike/lockout)
    • What if  and  both miss out on the knockout round...  That'd be something.
    • 5-1  over  with one on second base and only one out!!
