This will probably be the first race in Olympic history with only one participant at the start. I say probably because we can't know all the crazy situations that happened in early Olympics

Don't know about athletics, but don't forget about Eddie the Eel in 2000.

Just saw the replays of the 4x100m heats, I'm turning around on the USA decision being unfair and think it's more and more fair, but f*ck it, our athletics union was still asleep

The exchange from Jamile Samuel to Dafne Schippers was screwed because one of the Ghanese athletes nearly pushed Samuel out of her lane (and stepped way inside the Dutch lane)

Seeing as USA's protest was awarded, a Dutch protest would certainly have been awarded as well, but no, our union didn't pay attention and didn't see it

As I said earlier, I think it was the least worst decision.  But there's no way the same thing would have been granted to any other country (except maybe, maaaaaaybe Jamaica).  I'm just glad Canada beat the Chinese by a thousandth of a second, otherwise I'd be up in arms right now.

Well, Dafne didn't get disqualified in 200m, so you still get to keep one silver instead of one final...

I know :d

Another one there who was asleep...Ivory Coast's federation. Although on moving images it looked like that screenshot was made when her foot was still in the air, and when her foot actually stepped down, it was not touching the line.

    • Italy also has many more judo clubs than wrestling. Our most recent medalists in wrestling were naturalized Cubans: Chamizo and Conyedo. Women's wrestling in Italy is at a very low level.

    • I think it has to do with the depth in plenty of other countries, unlike Wrestling, and Judo tournaments systems in Europe and Asia, and the schedule is more dense then wrestling and of course the exposure of it in the Free JudoTV system and broadcasting and advertising and crowd support unlike UWW where it’s barely exists, I mean for my NOC I would have love to see more Wrestlers but again its less common and exposed to the public so you need to know it from your local sports club
