do you have the list of qualifiers? I'm lost

I have absolutely no idea :p Apparent in the women's platform, all the semifinalists get an Olympic Quota, according to Italian federation.

:ITA:NED:AUS:PRK qualify through the 2024 World Championships.

The rest qualify via the reallocation.

However, since we don't know how many of this quotas are availeable I wouldn't venture doing any guesses. The Italian NOC probably did the math. Her second athlete isnt to far away is more than posible that reallocation gets to her.

The Italian federation probably forgot the rules have changed since 2020.

In a worst case scenario, no one else gets chosen, in the best case, the next 13 qualify (may decrease depending on which nations qualify in synchro)

The Italian Federation sent a request to WA, that confirms that for the women's platform only.

In a perfect world it'll be 34 athletes per individual/synchro combo.

Now if someone say competes in say the 3m springboard and 10m synchro then it becomes complicated.

Without further guesses, and until all synchro teams are confirmed, here’s what the theoretical women quotas in platform as of today would be:

23 Qualified divers before 2024 WA Championships:

:FRA 2 (synchro only)

:CHN 4 (synchro + 2 individuals)

:GBR 4 (synchro + 2 individuals)

:USA 3 (synchro + 1 individual)

:GER 2 individuals

:MEX 2 individuals

:AUS 1 individual

:BRA 1 individual

:CAN 1 individual

:EGY 1 individual

:JPN 1 individual

:ESP 1 individual

- - - - - - - - - - - - -

8 2024 WA Championships synchro pairs not previously qualified (in finishing order):

:WHT :WHT :WHT :WHT ?

- - - - - - - - - - - - -

3 (4)2024 WA Championships individual finalists not previously qualified (in finishing order):

:PRK 1 individual

:ITA 1 individual

:NED 1 individual

:AUS 1 individual

So we already have 35 divers, but given Jade Gillet seems to be doubling in the synchro events, I think these quotas can be taken for granted.

Yeah, even at previous Olympics their qualification document was written in a way that it was technically possible for more than the maximum amount of athletes to qualify. They got burned in 2020 because of COVID. Already qualified athletes/nations did not compete at the World Cup so more athletes than expected qualified which is why only the finalists are now guaranteed to compete.

On average around 10/16 athletes compete in both individual and synchro events. France not being a diving nation might decrease the average though.

FINA wrote that the best efforts would be made to ensure gender balance (if possible). So this distribution is as complicated as moon voyage.

How on earth we can have this kind  of stupid rules. 136 places, so we have 68 per gender. And next we should  give quotas until we have 68 male and 68 female divers.
