Junior Pan American Games 2021

The streaming was terrible and I barely was able to watch more than 5 minutes of the men's artistic gymnastics competition, but it was exciting following the scores alone. Silver is a better result than what I expected for Brazil, and it looks like without Richard the US is not really the favorite for all the gold medals in the event finals, after all.

So sad that latin american multi-sports games still use this outdated results system.

And while I appreciate Canal Olímpico do Brasil broadcasting this, it's extremely frustrating not having results at all (even the commentators have to wait for some updates from the reporter).

Sadly the level of competition was even worse than I thought.

And it was higher/better level than I expected it to be :p

Found it @Griff88

Yeah, I gave up on both the streaming and results system this morning, which is unfortunate as I was looking forward to this competition.

Argentina, Brazil and Mexico all had terrible performances in women's artistic gymnastics. Argentina had the worst day of them all, though. It's going to be USA for the gold medal, Brazil with the silver medal and Mexico with the bronze medal.

It's a little unfair because 13 year-old girls were not allowed in this competition, and Argentina's best girls are all 13 years old. Bummer.

Where do you even get news about 13 year old argentinian gymnasts?

LOL. There's a very small group of dedicated fans who gather information about these young gymnasts. Junior women compete from 13 to 15 years of age, and we get to see them at the continental events. For example, the 13 yo Argentinians competed at the Pan American Championships. I'm surprised that they were not allowed to compete here because they are much better than the rest of the Argentinian, Brazilian and Mexican girls who did compete here. But, to be honest, Brazil's best junior gymnast is Helen who is also 13, and is much better than any of the 14 and 15 yo girls who represented Brazil here.

    • The last time this happened - all three athletes on the podium had zero podiums before - was Les Saisies sprint in December 1990: Uschi Disl, Elena Melnikova (future Sergei Tchepikov's wife) & Kerstin Moring. The latter two never finished on the World Cup podium again. This was also the race where Disl became the second youngest World Cup winner ever (currently down to third because of Neuner).
    • In general almost all Fisi sports have been doing terribly this season. One debacle after another and the Colturi case completes the scale of embarrassment. Apart from single star like Goggia, Brignone or Pellegrino, only the alpine snowboard looks good.
    • Unfortunately the Italian men's team is poorly prepared for the season. Everyone is in terrible shooting form. Somewhere a mistake was made in the preparations. We are recording a big regression compared to the previous season. It`s becoming more and more likely that we will not stand on the podium even once this season (I can't remember the last time something like that happened). In the Nations Cup we are in 6th place and we may lose 6 starting places in the World Cup from next season. I`m increasingly worried about what will happen in the Olympic season. Without Vittozzi returning to top form, we completly will not count.    In general our entire winter season looks very bad: biathlon as above, cross-country skiing - still only Pellegrino, luge - poor form, alpine skiing without Goggia and Brignone doesn`t exist.

    • A few updates from the IFA after last month's Board of Directors meeting.   Looks like there will be no host quota for  China at the 2025 World Games. This is surprising after the IFA went to Chengdu last year to put on a clinic. No doubt that given a year  China has the resources and athletes to field a team that would be competitive in the placement matches.    Namibia will replace  China on the women's side. While  will replace  on the men's side.     Namibia finished 8th at the last Women's World Championships, while  New Zealand finished 11th at the 2023 Men's World Championship.
