Here's a much more complete version of the Commonwealth Games Universal Event Time Calculator spreadsheet.

  • Birmingham results website is still a bit buggy so I can't find see times for all the events - 110m hurdles has heats but no final, apparently
  • No detailed times for sports like judo & wrestling which are one bout just follows the next.
  • Not much detail in the boxing, lawn bowls etc.
  • Some events listed that might have been cancelled for want of entrants in paralympic sports especially.

Had a chance to look at the entries of some events, and I noticed the women's 53 kg wrestling event has only 4 entrants, which means only 2 medals will be awarded (gold and silver).

do they have different set of rules in CWG ? because in normal UWW events they would award 3 medals in such a case (just one bronze)

Yea in the CWG minimum 5 entrants to award 3 medals. I'm sure it is 8 to award two bronze, which means some of the other women's categories and a couple in judo will award only one bronze.

In general, this event would likely be axed at many multi-sports games. I know the Mediterranean Games, CAC Games, and Pan American Games require (or at least used to) a certain amount of entries (somewhere between 5-8 I think), barring exceptional circumstances like injuries, late withdraw, etc. I believe 4/5 NOCs must be included as well.

that's a UWW rule too. they award only 1 bronze for events with less than 8 competitors.

It's weird because the CGF sent reminders to cgfs saying events had under subscribed entries and were at risk of being cut. My only guess is there was 5 entries and one withdrew.

On topic of events with low entries, I’m quite interested to find out what a nine person mountain bike cross country race looks like :d

I think there’s enough countries entered across both events to make it worthwhile to keep the discipline on the program for now though.

Also, Rhys Mcclenaghan is doing his thing from inside the village once again (like in Tokyo).

Canada didn't get enough quotas to enter.... I'd imagine that is the cause of smaller fields. Also there is a WC during the CWG's which gives points for the Olympic rankings if I am not mistaken

    • Netball has basically no chance on gender equality grounds.
    • They drew a map on their website, must be legit ! (There is a grand total of one active club in my fully recognised Lacrosse country).   My point being with Lacrosse in for 2028 (and to some extent with Breaking in 2024), there are no rules anymore for additional sports, no threshold to reach. So why not RL or whatever really ? IOC and/or the host can chose whatever they want for whatever reasons (that they don't care to explain to anyone anyway, that's it if there is a reason to begin with).
    • Darts PDC world championship, hoping to catch some tennis if time zones permit. The occasional football games. And I make sure to watch any skeleton and bobsleigh events
    • Yeah I'm not sure if littler will win the semis, I could see it going either way
    • Netball Fast5 is a strong sport internationally and has a good chance for inclusion at Brisbane 2032.   As far as Surf Lifesaving goes, it should be noted that Coastal Rowing has already been added as a sporting discipline at the LA2028 Olympic Games.     While not exactly the same as our iconic big Aussie surf boats, there are still similarities in that teams row a boat from the shore around a coastal course.   See this photo from the World Coastal Rowing Championships. The LA2028 Olympics will also have beach sprints as part pf the Coastal Rowing disciplines.   This is what Surf Life Saving is up against.   So not sure if Life Saving Australia has, or is planning to, put a detailed submission to the IOC’s Olympic Programme Commission putting a case forward as to why Surf Lifesaving is an international sport and should be included at the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games?
    • The International Olympic Committee saw Lacrosse coming when the international sporting federation World Lacrosse made a detailed submission to the Olympic Programme Commission to have the sport included at the LA 2028 Games.   That’s what it will take if Rugby League wants to be included in the 2032 Games.  It’s not impossible but there is already Rugby Sevens in the Olympics and the question has to be asked is if the IOC is willing to add the sport of Rugby League to the Games? I don’t know.   On your point about Lacrosse, yes it is very much an international sport played around the world.  Recognition of this is that Lacrosse will officially be a medal sport at the LA2028 Olympic Games.   World Lacrosse has 92 member international Lacrosse sporting federations governed by across 4 continental sporting federations across the globe:  Asia-Pacific Lacrosse Union European Lacrosse Federation Pan-American Lacrosse Federation African Association of Lacrosse   As mentioned, both the Australian Mens and Womens Lacrosse Teams are ranked number 4 in the world.   So back to Rugby League Nines which is really up against it for inclusion at the Olympics in 2032.   Yes, I get your point that we do not usually get to see the submissions made to the Olympic Programme Commission for inclusions of different sports.   Also, I don’t even know if Rugby League has ever put a submission in, or if they are planning to?
    • RL is as much an international sport as Lacrosse tbh (they both aren't). But really, after Paris and LA, trying to predict future hosts additional sports seems to me basically impossible. No one saw brealking or lacrosse coming.
