:ROU bags the first gold medal in table tennis. They might be able to sweep the medals, which would definitely help their chances of topping the medal table.

Stylers Crew :MAR will again perform for the gold medal. :CIV will get a chance to avenge their semifinal loss to them from six years ago.

I don’t think the judges and I watched the same final :mumble:

Stylers Crew :MAR get the gold even though they spent more time doing weird gags and hogging the stage than the CIV Freestyle Team :CIV (who at least actually did some juggling)

Definitely looking like a battle between :MAR:ROU for top spot on the medal table. :ROU got eliminated in women’s basketball, so that might hurt their chances.

A couple decent performances in athletics…

Eseme :CMR took gold in the men’s 100m (10.04)

Mendy :SEN won gold and broke the games record in the men’s 110m hurdles (13.38)

Diouf :SEN with nice sub-46 win in the men’s 400m.

:GUI:MAD picked up their first gold medals as well. :CMR (men’s long jump) and :MAR (women’s 1500m) both achieved podium sweeps.

:WLL won a silver medal in literature, so they won’t leave empty-handed.

Huge result for Marthe Koala :BUR (heptathlete) in women’s long jump. She set the Games Record at 6.94m, which also bags her a quota for Paris 2024. 25cm PB according to the start list :yikes:

    • There is a saying to never trust a Russian in gymnastics. Well, ex-Russian turned Bulgarian Elvira Krasnobaeva is transferring now to Armenia.   The "official" reason is for personal, family matters, but in reality it's most likely because she wasn't selected for Paris, which angered her parents. Even though she is only 16, had her breakthrough just this year and started making mistakes, when they amped up the difficulty.   Our Federation's President Iliana Raeva said today, that she received calls also from France and Azerbaijan about Elvira's mother basically auctioning her. Raeva mentioned, that Krasnobaeva was going to be a vocal point in the next Olympic cycle, but now she can hit the road and missed her chance to ever compete for Bulgaria, even if she wanted to in the future.    We are also going to make a new Group from next season. After the disappointment in Paris, 4 out of the 5 girls announced their retirement.
    • true, but was expecting India to get troubles from Australia, not from New Zealand, and specially not by being bowled out. Makes the group phase interesting though
    • The 4th best team in the world beating the 3rd best team in the world is not a huge surprise though.
