Wow. Even with Pats in the Super Bowl I wouldn't be ready to do that the night before an exam!

I spent all day convincing myself that a few hours of sleep more or less won't make a difference, the studying I did in the past week does, so it's ok to watch :d

Don't you already feel the togetherness of diehard fans watching mixed curling and whatnot all night? I love Asian Olympics :d

I'll stick with :FIN vs :KOR game (cheering for the Finns of course...). :p

I hate how they introduced mixed doubles under a false pretense that it will bring more nations, while in reality it's just a bonanza for the same old countries (except for Finland who incredibly qualified). Finns however still have a curling medal, but they haven't took part since 2006, so that's something...

Maybe the same will happen with 3x3 Basketball and the US wins all 4 Golds. :d

Which is why it's bedtime here (still too late, but alright, there's quite a decent gap to sleep in after the men's DH training), so when I wake up....the first real Olympic action is only 10 minutes away, oh man :hyper:

OK...last weekend I watched Alpine Skiing and Snowboard last world cup events before the Olympics, Golf (US PGA Tour), Futsal Europeans and of course the Superbowl...

in the last couple of days I focused once again on Futsal, then the Ice Hockey Champions League final and a couple of NHL games...

today is the traditional "detox" day before the great, crazy fortnight...:yikes::lol:

from tomorrow, it's almost only Winter Olympics for the next 18 days (I'm gonna make just an exception for the semis and the final of the Futsal Europeans and for the Juventus vs Tottenham match in Champions League)...

however, my day -1 schedule is quite "light"...

I'm not gonna spend the night in front of my TV...and I'm going to catch up with the men's downhill 1st training and a bit of curling round #1 in the morning...

then I go live with the Qualifying Round of the Ski Jumping and in the afternoon I'll try to watch also another curling match from session #2 (probably the one involving my Swiss friends)...

    • I guess 65, 79, 88, 110, 110+ will be the Olympic classes for 2028 (I don't think IOC would allow them to increase the number of gold medals available at the Games yet...most likely they want to to stay with the current lineup and see how it goes in the next Olympic cycle in terms of doping scandals before taking any decision)  or maybe they will keep those weights for the "regular activity" and later on they will set 5 different weight classes only good for Olympic purposes, with dedicated tournaments when it's time for the OQ (like Taekwondo, more or less)  but it's just my personal speculation, I have no infos from the inside
    • Today the funniest tournament of the season, the Shoot Out, will starts
    • Luckily for us, it happened exactly as we thought. Unfortunately, the Serbian players had to play the entire match, the difference in value between the starters and the reserves being quite large, and thus at the end of the match their fatigue was evident.
    • if they limit the number of qualified athletes to 8 per category that will not exceed the allocated quota (marginally). I know 8 athletes only is a bit harsh but will be more competitive.
    • Thank you for putting this together, it was fun to go through. From your keyboard to God's ears on Canada's short track team here (I believe you have us at 4-1-1, which is realistic if everything works out).   Leaving us off the podium in speed skating women's pursuit was interesting.   Three medals of any colour in curling would be celebrated at this point after two disasterous cycles.   In hockey, I'll always take our girls over the Americans (was "lucky" enough to see them lose in 2018 in person, though. Only time in 6 Games. Haha...hahahahaha...ha).    For the men, I said above unless Canada finds a goaltender I'm not too optimistic. USA is just too well rounded. But lots can happen by then, and in a one game elimination tournament.
    • big decision by IWF   new weight categories, 8 for men and 8 for women from June 2025   Men 60kg, 65kg, 71kg, 79kg, 88kg, 98kg, 110kg, +110kg Women 48kg, 53kg, 58kg, 63kg, 69kg, 77kg, 86kg, +86kg   and this means all World records will be erased AGAIN !    https://iwf.sport/2024/12/03/iwf-executive-board-meeting-in-manama-brn-december-2-3-main-decisions/   I think that was a good decision, 10 weights was too much. but erasing the current World Records was the down side of this decision.   but does this mean they have some agreements with IOC to have all these weights at the Olympics ? that looks unlikely though  but looking at the numbers and the gap between weights none of them look like a "non-Olympic weight" at least that's what IWF thinks.
    • As @NearPupsays, figure skating. They are Uzbeks only by flag, in reality they are two Russian skaters who have changed their nationality
