As previously reported by my good buddy @intoronto, the Canadian Table Tennis Olympic Trials (had no clue we even had an event for selection before yesterday) have just concluded with Jeremy Hazin joining pre-selected  Eugene Wang and Edward Ly in the team event.

Just spoke to Rafa, and got some confirmation that our women’s team pursuit squad have mathematically qualified for Paris already as they can’t be caught in the Olympic Rankings.

Ty Ikeda secures a quota in men’s 50m rifle 3 positions with a silver medal at the Pan American Rifle & Pistol Championships! He was 1.8 points behind Argentina heading into the 43/45th shot, but complete disaster by Zoccali Albizu on his last (6.0) combined with a 8.4 was more than enough to get it done!

At the beginning of the qualification period I was expecting/hoping for at least one quota in shooting, but now we have 3!!

More team nominations in sailing following the conclusion of the medal races at the Princess Sofia Regatta (2/2 events, combined placings are added up), as Sarah Douglas qualifies in women’s laser radial, and Will Jones/Justin Barnes qualify in 49er!

    • It's all hogwash especially in the short attention span generation. Like nobody cares about Free Tibet anymore either. Free Palestine will last a lot longer due to Saudi Arabia becoming a sponsorship force in sports.   Israel is too weak in soccer to qualify from UEFA zone. The only time they qualified was from the Asian zone and they only beat Australia & New Zealand who were complete nobodies in the 1960s. No such luck in the 60 years since.
    • Oh I assure you FIFA dodger a bullet with Israel not qualifying…   But ya that’s kind of the thing, shut up and dribble is a mantra anti LGBT people have used often. I don’t think it’s hypocritical to remind them of their position
    • Ah, yes but that's not how pro athletes are taught in North America these days? Shut up & dribble is xenophobic, racist or whatever? The hypocrisy of some of these policies were exposed during 2022 World Cup already where the Saudis played it smart and waved their own "Free Palestine' slogans. Forget LGBT rights for a moment, how many 'Free Palestine' flags will be waved in 2026? Or will those be confiscated by default? Somehow I feel this won't be met with similar backlash when China clamped down on 'Free Tibet' in 2008 OG. Saudi Arabia is more important to global markets than Iran & Egypt
    • Wisła Płock just assumed 1st position after five consecutive draws. Must be first time ever a team on a five match winless streak actually moves up to league top.
    • Well ya, which is why the Egyptian and Iranian teams can shut up and dribble :P
    • The problem is, the World Cup is not a local event. Overall it's another storm in a teacup. LGBT rights in Muslim countries won't change a damn inch becuse of one soccer match in Seattle
