We have at least one entry for each of 5 events.

Though we have a huge trouble in men's singles and only one quota for women's doubles, I'm content with this qualification result.

Here's a provisional list of the qualification places

 

Men's Singles

World Ranking list: :CHN  :MAS  :CHN  :DEN  :DEN  :TPE  :INA  :KOR  :GER  :HKG  :IND  :HKG  :GBR  :KOR  :THA  :JPN  :VIE  :ESP  :FRA  :EST  :GUA  :SWE  :BEL  :RUS  :POL  :ISR  :CUB  :IRL  :UKR  :BRA  :SIN  :USA

Africa Continental quota: :RSA  According to its qualification rules, South Africa will reject the continental quota; :UGA gets this place if no triparte place is given to a NOC from Africa, :BOT  :CGO  :GHA  :ZAM are the countries that satisfy the IF requirements to be awarded that place.

Oceania Continental quota: :AUS  Australia can only select two of its continental quotas; if this event is not selected, quota goes to :NZL, which does not accept reallocated places. As no other NOC from Oceania fulfills the requirements for participation, this place will be reallocated to World Ranking list.

Host country quota (reallocation): :POR

World Ranking (reallocation):  :AUT  :CAN  :CZE  :MEX  :FIN ; currently there are up to three spots up to be awarded to singles competition, given that each NOC chooses their first and/or second ranked athletes in the other events of the same gender.

NOC's fulfilling conditions for tripartite Invitation (up to 3 places):  :BAR  :BRU  :GUY  :JOR  :NEP  :PAK  :SRI  :SUR  (plus the African countries mentioned above)

:SRI Sri Lanka is the big favourite to get one of the tripartite quotas. Meanwhile, other tripartite quotas should be quite open. Would be interesting if :BRU gets it though I somehow doubt they applied.

Besides Sri Lanka, I think Suriname is also a good candidate for a spot in men's

Defending champion Japan already out, no surprise since they don't have Momota, Tago and Nishimoto.

 

As for China, major shock indeed. Once again world number one Chen Long failed to deliver. :facepalm:

    • A very ignorant statement.   Of course the UK is not exactly known for its winter sport but there are some ski resorts mainly in Scotland, like the Cairngorms or the Nevis Range.

We are slowly developing a complex about this country, because we are constantly losing to them in sabre too. Sabre has always been Ukrainian, epee for a draw or our slight advantage but a failed in women`s foil, which is already a shocking novelty
