Amazing performance by german-coached Chopra. Great to see that we continue the trend of shooting ourselves in the food by "allowing" our best coaches to improve our competitors. Jürgen Gröbler did it with british rowing, Heiko Salzwedel did it with british track cycling and Dieter Kollark did it with Gong Lijiao in women's shot put.

May I ask what had to happen that there is only one male javelin thrower from Germany at this championship?

The same problem as in many other disciplines. Everyone (Röhler, Vetter, Hofmann, Hussong) is injured. Same with Mihambo, Baehre, Klosterhalfen and many others. German coaches are mostly clueless, their greatest strength is that they can turn any healthy athlete in a wreck in no time. Most of the good german coaches were sent away, but luckily for us all those amazing former GDR coaches helped other countries like GB, China, India or Australia to become better.

No wind for Group A in javelin. Only four results over 80 meters including :POL Dawid Wegner whom hardly anyone has heard of.

This will be curious if the wind shows up for Group B and we get like 10+ throws over 80 meters

    • Here, the Masters is on national TV.  Are major golf tourneys in the USA shown in other places?   (I work at a private school that's just about an 80-minute drive from Augusta.  Many of my students are able to go watch the tournament in person.  I've never paid attention to golf until this year...it's a beautiful course!)

    • so, one of the most boring world cup stages ever has ended    if it wasn't for  and , winning 1 gold medal each, a  sweep would have come true, as they won all the remaining 8 gold medals (and a bunch of silver and bronze, too)    while some sports are brcoming more and more global, it looks that (rifle and pistol) shooting is going the other way round, it's becoming less and less global, with just 1 or 2 dominating Countries and a few others filling the (minor) gaps here and there, with always less Nations capable to win medals (only 12, out of 10 competitions) and even make the final    now the Rifle and Pistol world cup takes a break to allow most Continental championships to take place between the end of April and May.   It will be back in  Munich in the last week of May.   In the meantime, the Shotgun specialists will be on stage from May 2nd through May, 11th in  Almaty.
