Predication for NZ by Gracenote seemed bit off as usual.

I’d say 22-25 is a possibility

Athletics: 2 to 3 - Kerr for High Jump, Walsh for shotput and McCartney for pole vault.

Canoeing - 1 Slalom (Luuka Jones for KX), 4 x for Sprint (K1 500 - 2 Fisher and Carrington, K2 500 Carrington & Hoskins, K4 500) 5 in total

Rugby 7s - Both men’s and women’s. 2

Cycling - Track - 6 (W Keirin, W Sprint, W Omnium, W Team Sprint, M Madison and M Omnium). Mountain Biking - Sam Gaze - 7 in total

Rowing - 4 (both men’s and women’s single sculls, men’s 4s, women’s 4s)

Triathlon - 1 for Wilde

Golf - Ko for women’s

Swimming - 2 Clareburt and Fairweather 1 x each

Equestrian - 1 x for team eventing or atleast individual for Tim Price

Sailing - 3 outside chances but it really depends on their day.

Trampoline - maybe if Dylan delivers 2022 WC again

Team NZ are always massively punching above their weight. Much respect

It’s not impossible, but Fairweather likely won’t be on the podium in the women’s 400m freestyle with Ledecky, McIntosh and Titmus. Same for Clareburt in the men’s 200m individual medley, with two Brits, Marchand, Shun, whoever qualifies for United States, and Knox all favored over him.

McCartney in women’s pole vault also seems unlikely, she lacks the consistency to be one of the favourites. Caudery, Moon, Morris, Sutej, Kennedy, Murto, and maybe Newman are all over her.

I would assume the medal for Clareburt would be 400m IM not 200m IM.

I'm going to gamble here and say McIntosh doesn't medal in the 400m free (sorry), and so Fairweather would be the likely beneficiary. The past two "taper meets" Fukuoka and the trials, she hasn't really performed that well, whereas she has improved in all of the others.

Mcintosh was not tapered for trials

They said Clareburt 2, so I’m assuming they’re projecting two medals for him..

That’s fine if you don’t think McIntosh will medal, hopefully you’ll be proven wrong :d

Don’t think she was tapered here though, she has no reason to.

Well she broke the 400m IM WR so she must have tapered somewhat, and she was definitely tapered for Fukuoka.

I think it's 2 total, 1 Fairweather and 1 Clareburt.

    • Yea I only used transit besides this Uber / bus to the airport and back. All the venues were at the end of the line, so it allowed you to speak with other fans/volunteers etc. I even met Corrine Stoddard's mom after the first session of short track on the way back, and told her to remember our conversation if she won a medal later in the Olympics. We know how that ended up...
    • I used public transit the entire time I was in Milan.   My first day was a doozy, because I had to two flights to reach Malpensa, and then the train into town was delayed, and then I got confused a station and boarded a tram instead of the metro, proceeded to travel in the wrong direction, got off, walked back to the station, found the metro, got off a station early, walked around a kilometer to my hotel, and checked in.   My colleagues mostly took cabs upon arrival, but I deduced to take the frugal approach. That said, I was a true public transit professional by the time I left Milan.   I actually enjoyed my rides to and from venues, because I'd just chat up fans and volunteers from different countries. It helped me learn more about the city too.
    • It's the olympics, sleep is for the weak!    The first day i got there i was on a 12 hour flight from l.a to rome (flight that left mid day), lay over, another flight to milan, uber to hotel, then right away to speed skating (1500m men), then after uber to hockey venue for women's gold final, then after the celebrations uber to the hotel, i ended up being awake about 36 hours that day, the next morning i thought to go sightseeing in the center of milan, but ended up sleeping until like 2pm..... and had speed skating/short track that night
    • I tried to get onto the metro multiple times and gave up    I had just arrived the day of from Bangkok (12 hr flight) and was just exhausted and wanted to sleep
    • Plus, you missed out on a potential metro ride with me, which is quite priceless in my opinion
    • My hotel was very close to Rho so was easy to get there, but it was so far from the hockey venue that after the women's gold medal match it was so expensive to get back, and also the next day after the usa slovakia semis it took forever, the asshole driver took the city and not the freeway
    • Uber cost me $224 CAD to get back to the hotel from the OC. It basically prevented me from buying tickets to a speed skating session
    • Romania's national team coach, Mircea Lucescu, has died half an hour ago He was in hospital since March 30th, just before the friendly match against Slovakia. Unbelievable how the life can have such turns...in March 26th he was in Istanbul playing the WC qualifying play-off vs Turkiye and now he died.    Thank you very much for every moments you bring us in your huge career (he's on 3rd place in a most trophies won in career, after Ferguson and Guardiola) and may your soul rest in peace, Mr. Lucescu.
