Okay the Italian coaches are being cruel, lol. Vitozzi, Wierer, Sanfilippo on the first three legs and on the fourth leg (when they are likely to be up front, even leading) Michaela Carrara who had her first WC race ever yesterday. This may not end well

I think Carrara did pretty well at Junior Worlds last year.  Still a massive jump fro. Jr Worlds to anchoring the relay in Oberhof.

I still can't believe why they're so bent on ignoring Runggaldier. Sure, she is not as fast as most other Italians, but she never goes around the penalty loop, because her shooting is reliable and that's what the Italian team always lacked with 40% relay accuracy from Gontier and an often shaky performance from Sanfilippo.

I remember a certain German who made her top-level debut in the World Championships relay and brought Germany from 8th to 1st in said debut race :p

It’s bizarre. Not to mention Italy has an empty slot available

We have snow in Oberhof! Not enough to reopen the closed pistes, but makes everything look less like a the kind of rugby pitches I used to play on when I was at school.

    • It's all hogwash especially in the short attention span generation. Like nobody cares about Free Tibet anymore either. Free Palestine will last a lot longer due to Saudi Arabia becoming a sponsorship force in sports.   Israel is too weak in soccer to qualify from UEFA zone. The only time they qualified was from the Asian zone and they only beat Australia & New Zealand who were complete nobodies in the 1960s. No such luck in the 60 years since.
    • Oh I assure you FIFA dodger a bullet with Israel not qualifying…   But ya that’s kind of the thing, shut up and dribble is a mantra anti LGBT people have used often. I don’t think it’s hypocritical to remind them of their position
    • Ah, yes but that's not how pro athletes are taught in North America these days? Shut up & dribble is xenophobic, racist or whatever? The hypocrisy of some of these policies were exposed during 2022 World Cup already where the Saudis played it smart and waved their own "Free Palestine' slogans. Forget LGBT rights for a moment, how many 'Free Palestine' flags will be waved in 2026? Or will those be confiscated by default? Somehow I feel this won't be met with similar backlash when China clamped down on 'Free Tibet' in 2008 OG. Saudi Arabia is more important to global markets than Iran & Egypt
    • Wisła Płock just assumed 1st position after five consecutive draws. Must be first time ever a team on a five match winless streak actually moves up to league top.
    • Well ya, which is why the Egyptian and Iranian teams can shut up and dribble :P
    • The problem is, the World Cup is not a local event. Overall it's another storm in a teacup. LGBT rights in Muslim countries won't change a damn inch becuse of one soccer match in Seattle
