Pretty pissed off right now. Power outage happened a couple of hours before the event started, and ended up missing not one.. not two… but THREE world records?

Just finished watching a replay. WHAT A MEET!!  Hodgkinson is looked amazing (Mu must be shook!) Kipyegon looking unbeatable across 1500-5000 and anything between. Hassan to do the 10k/Marathon double at worlds?

 

Is there a video of the two mile world record anywhere?

Partly the shoes, partly the lights. I think athletes have now learnt how to use them. Both of the major WRs tonight were down on the lights at the beginning of the last lap, but surged past.

yes, because the lights always keep the "average pace" to beat the WR (or the projected time), but when you go flat out in the last lap (200/300m) you go faster than that average speed.

 

but still, those lights are the key to keep the right pace in the second part of the race, where no human pacemaker can help the leader(s) anymore (unless you have a true direct fight like Gidey vs Kipyegon until the last meters of a race).

 

but I agree with the people saying that's too much, it's just technological doping and they should drop all these kind of help (like they did with the rubber suits in swimming).

 

any comparison between nowadays clockings/jumps and those of just 3/4 years ago makes no sense anymore because of this new kind of help the athletes have right now.

From the results, this was one of the best diamond league meetings in recent memory. Of course I couldn't watch it as it was on a channel (Sportklub) almost nobody has in this country. But I did enjoy it through the live results!
