DSDs will be studied case by case. From the IOC website:

Quote

With the rare exception of athletes with a diagnosis of Complete Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome (CAIS) or other rare differences/disorders in sex development (DSDs) who do not benefit from the anabolic and/or performance-enhancing effects of testosterone, no athlete with an SRY-positive screen is eligible for competition in the female category at an IOC event.

Probably a political decision?

But in fact, I don't think there was a better solution.

Trump is certainly getting the blame in pro trans circles.

I think IOC took advantage of the timing to take this decision for sure. It brings a good rep with the US government and kind of 'passes the blame' as well for any issue. I don't think they liked all that talk from Paris as well.

Total speculation here, but wouldn't be surprised if this was or could be used as leverage to future decisions (Russia's return, making sure all athletes-delegations are there), although this is very naïve.

No more so than the .100 false start rule in athletics, or the carrying rule in basketball, weight limits in boxing etc etc.  A decision has to be made somewhere, some cases will always be borderline, someone will always feel cheated.

Try saying that in trans and liberal circles. IOC needs to be prepared for woke protestors causing issues over the coming where.

Social media from IOC is already invaded by bots that post Russian stuff, saying they are best friends with Putin, etc all the time, is unbearable.

I think they are used to it

Obviously a political decision, everything to please Trump :p

This is a woke decision for plenty of people, judging by 'woke' generally meaning "whatever I don't like".

Big difference having social media bots to actual protestors.
