Quite surprising see an archery, it's not a common thing to see (obv, there are schedules issues)

They went with their two defending Olympic Champions

Archery competes on July 25, and then has a short break, with competition resuming on July 28. The ceremony fits into their schedule quite nicely.

:NED Worthy de Jong (3x3 basketball) & Lois Abbingh (handball)

Been waiting for this news for a while. I didn't expect De Jong, but Abbingh is a very respectable pick who completely deserves it. Former world champion on her third Olympics, been a face of international handball for years.

On the men's side I would have personally picked Roy van den Berg from the men's team sprint or potentially Abdi Nageeye.

Not sure if Nageeye is even in Europe already though, his race is still far away...

I do think De Jong is very much a worthy choice :)

Is De Jong an olympic debutant?, surely can't have had many of them before.

Yes, he switched from many years of regular basketball to 3x3 in 2022, specifically with Paris as the aim.
