Russian athletes that have changed nationalities

Recommended Posts

Started this thread to see how many have switched since the war and to get a clearer view on the impact the ban has had on not just Russia but the nations their athletes have defected to.

I'm mostly in the dark with this one, so will need some help collating names.

Do you have anyone off the top of your head? The only ones I have so far are :ALB Zelimkhan Abakarov and :AUS Georgii Okorokov.

14 year old tennis player Alisa Oktiabreva represents Czech Republic now though the decision must have been made by her parents.

yes, of course...but it looks that the current situation might have increased the number of Russian born wrestlers deciding to look for luck elsewhere...

    • Meanwhile in Turkey.      Four leading athletes from Jamaica and a runner from Nigeria have announced that they are in the process of changing their citizenship. They are: Stona (discus throw, Jamaica) - Olympic champion in Paris 2024. Campbell (shot put, Jamaica) is a bronze medalist at the 2024 Olympics. Pinnock (long jump, Jamaica) is the current world and Olympic vice-champion. Hibbert (triple jump, Jamaica) is the world record holder in the U20 age group and a two-time medalist at the U20 World Championships. Ofili (track, Nigeria) is the world record holder in the 150-m.
    • Really enjoying all the insights here—especially the talk around how the time trials and mountain stages might shape the GC this year. With how unpredictable the peloton has become, even the early stages could spring surprises.   Looking forward to seeing how the race unfolds and who takes yellow in Paris!
    • finishes the Games with the unfortunate, yet interesting, statistic of finishing 4th place in each of the three events their two athletes entered.
    • Senior Rely World Championship Results: Men: Gold Silver   Bronze   Women: Gold   Silver   Bronze     The media coverage (even within UIPM) shows how important is the future of this event, no broadcasting, even live scoring on app was off and only full results populated at once.   unless UIPM created some sort of boosting to the relay competition, this event fate is in doubt.   would be very difficult to do so but the only boosting process in my mind is to convince IOC with additional medal event (Mixed relay for example) .. I know what would be the response from now
    • Sweden beat Poland 3-0 and by all accounts we played much worse than in the Germany game. Well, these results aren't a surprise, together with Wales we're the biggest outsiders who even qualified for these finals.
    • Definitely looking like someone who challenge for a podium place if he stays on his bike and healthy for the next few weeks.    Vauquelin  still in white, however, as he's also in good form at the moment.
    • called Barbara Banda , number 11 of Zambia
    • T20 World Cup qualification Third day of matches, finally without rain. Jersey beat Guernsey very comfortably in the inter-island derby. In the big match of the tournament, Scotland literally demolished the Netherlands. Tomorrow Italy will start the real tournament, playing against Scotland pending the possible decisive match against Netherlands.
    • Again, I'm speachless. Having a cardio like that. Just unbelievable.
    • Kim Rhode only 20th.  But Vincent with another majestic performance saved the day. Can't wait for the LA. He could win 5th gold medal.
