Great, they are planning to take away quotas from smaller nations in cross-country and road cycling... All to give big nations even more athletes and more medals.

BMX freestyle is a nightmare. They should have pushed for XC eliminator or team relay instead.

Not another relay/team event please

Definitely agree about the XC eliminator though, short and full of action + the first one at the finish wins, not the dude with the jeans the lowest on his ankle and the most points.

.

I hope the madison will be in. I really miss the points race though. Used to be one of my favourite Olympic events across the board.

My guess is that they'll take quotas from the big countries first. Countries that had 5 quotas go down to 4. 4 to 3 and so on.

Remember that Guam and France, Laos and the USA all have only 1 vote for president of the UCI :)

I was under the assumption they would decide the information but then it would be up to the individual IF's to release the info.

    • I still shocks, that a country of 4-5 million inhabitants? can be a powerhouse in almost every winter sport + handball, football (most recently with Haaland) and athletics: Ingebrigtsen, Warholm, etc. With such a small population, they can't be missing out on any major talent, surely? This must be the best training system in the world...
    • FIFA announced the stadium and time for each match   for  Iran, it will be 2 matches in LA (and not just 1) and 1 in Seattle and luckily we avoided playing in Canada. absolutely nothing against the country, but there are just too many douchebag Iranian groups in Vancouver trying to mix everything with their stupid politics. it's better to stay away from them.   that can happen in US too but less likely. playing in LA is more like playing at home, at least I hope so. 2022 Qatar was a disaster from our point of view, hopefully this one remains only about football.

    • I don't think he'll mind too much
    • But his time isn`t valid at track record.
    • Vladimir Semirunniy dropped a 12:28 in the 10000m B division, which qualifies him for the Olympics as the fastest time this season (with the big asterisk that it was done in a quad start). Must be a real relief for the Polish team given he isn't looking likely to qualify for the 10000m (or the 5000m) by ranking.   Really problematic that they rank pair start and quad start times together, but whatever.   Also, the Wikipedia page for qualification is updated through the second day.
