Ah! Now I know why Bach is here, and not at the fencing WCH. He wanted to hear the Italian national anthem because that's not going to happen at the fencing WCH. :p

Anyways, Danas' disqualification was due to a twitch before the start, as someone has already mentioned.

There is no news in our media about an appeal, the results were made official somewhat 20 minutes after the start, so not really sure if we even tried to appeal or had the chance to.

Some people claiming he's rude for not having stopped to talk with the media as he breezes past them pissed off :rolleyes::rolleyes:

The biggest surprise to me, honestly, is that I always thought Meilutytė would be the one to get herself disqualified in a race with high pressure due to her godly reaction times.

Lastly, although it's a sad affair, those twitches did not really give him any advantages in the pool, so he proved that he is capable of winning and I hope that his chance comes. Perhaps he breaks his PB in 200m backstroke for a surprise medal? If not, European Championships, in which China can't compete is going to be the next best chance for him.

Also no chance to give a medal to a german athlete at the fencing world championships ...

Especially when you compare it to the men's side, it's hard to say its from management, maybe we got very lucky.

or maybe competition in women's side is just more open than men

Another surprisingly slow race and another final without medal for the US, pretty bad results for them so far.
