P.S: @Faramir what is your opinion about the "kiss" in the last episode?

To pass that pin, they could have done a hug. I think the whole scene seems made to arrive to the kiss (why is Gil-galad there but is not involved in treating? He should be the one to decide after all), so to cater to the romantic part of the audience (again, soap opera style) and to get negative reactions from who knows that it'd be sacrilege in this world.

As for the orcs, same as everything else - they want to add something revolutionary in that world but then immediately inconsistent. One scene orcs want to be loved, the next one savagely licking blood from knives (copied from LotR of course), then back to wanting love. It's like they didn't read the script they wrote.

Gil Galad is probably the most underated character in this series, he appears a little and for saying nothing important, why Elrond will comand the forces and "the high king" dont?.

Its bizarre really.

Congrats Fernanda Torres!!!!

First brazilian ever to win the best actress contest at the Golden Globe.

I went to a screening and Q&A of I’m Still Here in November. I thought she was really good as Eunice Paiva. Definitely a welcome surprise (though I still need to see a few of the other nominated performances).

Few observations from the Globes.

Nikki Glaser had a nice opening monologue, but everything afterwards was bad. Plus i don't know what the make-up people did to her face, but i thought i was watching a wax figure.. But she changed 10 dresses showing us more of her cleavage, so that was a plus i guess.

This was probably not only the worst Globes, but probably one of the worst major award ceremonies in structure and writing... Everything was so awful...

- None of the presenter skits worked and many were just cringe;

- The weird camera angles, that widened around the presenters completely showed the audience not giving any fucks about what they were saying and some hiding their facepalms even. I was specifically watching in the background, since in these award shows we only get the camera in the presenters face against the screen, so this was new, but i was astonished how little the people were paying attention.

- Not showing barely any clips, or even images from the movies / series (sadly this has become a modern tradition to "save time")

- The idiotic showing of the nominees. Not only without images from their performances, but them in a small picture on the side, while the screen was a damn Google Map with an arrow on their placement. Like WHO CARES where they sit in the room, show the person on the full screen... Morons.

About the winners:

- Like pretty much all winners on the movie side, with the exception of Emilia Perez, which i don't like at all and don't think it deserves awards..

- Especially happy for The Brutalist and Fernanda Torres;

- Anora was being hyped so much. Watched it, absolutely hated the first half, picked up greatly in the second, but in the end an above average film 7/10 for me. Not getting anything yesterday was a bit surprising if you'd followed the race, but not saying i'm sorry for it. Madison did a great performance, but her stocks are falling for an Oscars win and she will probably settle for only the Nom.

- Ariana Grande does a nice job in fooling people, that she is a good singer (which she is not) and now that she is a good actress (which she is not). Someone is getting screwed if she gets an Oscars Nom..

- Pissed that they didn't have the DeMille and Burnett awards on the main show, because of "time", but we now have the nonsense Box Office and Stand-Up comedy awards.. Everyone would have preferred a tribute to Davis and Ted Danson with a recap of their careers, rather than 30 minutes of useless stuff.

On the TV side it was pretty much as expected. Stoked for Colin Farrell's win.

Yeah, Anora has been really hard for me to place in my personal rankings. It's a fun and enjoyable film for the most part, but it didn't quite generate the same awe or excitement from me that a few others have this season. Still, I was quite shocked to see Madison lose yesterday because she did a deliver a phenomenal performance in my opinion.

The best actress "race" still feels rather open to me, which adds a bit of suspense to each body's nominations.

I still remember how Demi Moore swept the Razzies for Striptease almost 30 years ago and she won Golden Globes now? The acting industry must be short on talent, scripts or everything else :p

This being said I don't really watch too many new TV shows these days least of all those Marvel/DC action hero stuff that has taken over in the last decade plus. I know it's a box office gold mine but completely not my taste.

    • Rams could well beat Vikings and this is a real coin toss. Sam Darnold's first playoff game and he looked bad vs Lions last weekend in the #1 seed decider already. This is one of these rare games when a wild card team has a much better record and the home team is the underdog on paper but Rams can pull this one off and it ends up being a "non-upset" upset.
    • I also want to know where the World Cup will be fully broadcast.
    • For my predictions I’m assessing a number of factors into it. For example in the comeback category, I prioritize injuries/life or career threatening stuff over breaks. World Championships, World Cups (and similar stuff for sports that don’t have those) also factor into it.    BEST MALE ATHLETE for sportsmen in Olympic sports   #1:  Leon Marchand #2:  Armand Duplantis (3 WR’s in a year…) #3:  Teddy Riner   Odermatt not being nominated is unexpected.      BEST FEMALE ATHLETE for sportswomen in Olympic sports   #1:  Summer McIntosh #2:  Sifan Hassan #3:  Lisa Carrington     BEST NON-OLYMPIC ATHLETE for athletes in Non-Olympic sports and disciplines   #1:  Shohei Ohtani #2:  Patrick Mahomes #3:  Max Verstappen     BEST PARALYMPIC ATHLETE for athletes with a disability   #1: #2: #3:     BEST YOUTH ATHLETE for athletes up to 18 years old (born after January 1st, 2006) (including Olympic, Non-Olympic and Paralympic sports)   #1:  Summer McIntosh (again) #2:  Lamine Yamal #3:  Darja Varfolomeev     BEST MEN'S TEAM for national men's teams or groups (including Olympic, Non-Olympic and Paralympic sports)   #1:  basketball team #2:  waterpolo team #3:  volleyball team     BEST WOMEN'S TEAM for national women's teams or groups (including Olympic, Non-Olympic and Paralympic sports)   #1:  volleyball team #2:  handball team #3:  field hockey team   If I’m gonna be completely honest, after #1 and #2, I had a hard time choosing one because all four teams had their struggles…      BEST DOUBLES/PAIR OR MIXED TEAM for doubles and pairs or mixed teams and groups (including Olympic, Non-Olympic and Paralympic sports)   #1:  Caterina Banti/Tito Ruggeri #2:  David Åhman/Jonatan Hellvig #3:  Paul O’Donovan/Fintan McCarthy   I had to let out a laugh when I saw that  Duda/AP were nominated, because even though they won gold they were not on the same page at all through most of the season and went months on the Beach Pro Tour between May and July without a single medal      BREAKTHROUGH OF THE YEAR for the most improved athlete (aged 19 or over) or national team (including Olympic, Non-Olympic and Paralympic sports)   #1:  Adriana Ruano #2:  Jasmine Paolini #3:  Shinnosuke Oka   Again, some of the nominations are confusing to me.  Vaast is surfing at his home break in Tahiti and like a lot of sports that advantage is big,  Lafond had a best jump of 14.90m in 2023 and  Alfred was a medal contender in 2023 as well.    I would put  Joan-Benjamin Gaba up there, he came into the Olympics completely out of the medal mix and he won silver and beat Hifumi by ippon in the mixed team final     COMEBACK OF THE YEAR for athletes or national teams who made a comeback performance in 2024 (including Olympic, Non-Olympic and Paralympic sports)   #1:  Sunisa Lee #2:  Paula Badosa #3:  Kristof Milak     SPORT MOMENT OF THE YEAR for any sport moment from 2024   #1:  Djokovic finally winning an Olympic gold medal in men’s singles tennis (and none of the other choices come close for me, honestly) #2:  Letsile Tebogo’s gold in the men’s 200m, first ever gold for Botswana and he also beats evil Lyles in the process  #3:  Armand Duplantis’ gold and WR in men’s pole vault   I wasn’t a fan the opening ceremony, and I thought the general consensus was that most people on here didn’t like it either, so I’m not sure on how it got nominated but…  Also thought there would be at least one non-Olympic nomination, but I guess not.   OLYMPIC SPIRIT AWARD for athletes or teams related to the 2024 Summer Olympics or Paralympics who exemplify the spirit of sportsmanship in the Games or showed great determination in overcoming obstacles   #1:  Kinzang Lhamo crossing the marathon finish line #2:  Fariba Hashimi fulfilling her Olympic dream, having to hide her practices from her parents and the Taliban for doing a “boys’ activity” #3: Same thing for  Manizha Talash, I can’t imagine how hard that must be for them…   Honestly, this was a tough category. Besides Skotheim, who I very clearly think is last… I feel like it could go in any order.
