[OFF TOPIC] Movies & TV Series Thread

Recommended Posts

In span of few days I watched two Netflix series, Caliphate and The Valhalla Murders, (both series aren't nothing special), rewatched film "Hachi: A Dog's Tale", two new episodes of The 100 and thanks to VPN I did start watching fourth season of The Last Kingdom :d ( @heywoodu

After The Last Kingdom (and before fifth season of Lucifer) I have in plans start to watch Arrow and The Order.

I’ve been hooked on Community lately. It’s an old comedy that originally aired a little over a decade ago. It’s got 5 seasons, and it’s entertaining. It’s definitely not the best comedy series out there though.

Community often popped up when I went to Comedy Central when bored years ago, but always when I kept watching for a little, I must have stumbled upon an incredibly boring episode :p Not a single laugh about it yet.

It’s definitely hit or miss. Some episodes I find myself laughing a good amount, and some I just want to skip all together. Generally I enjoy the majority of the episodes.

One of the greatest composers of all time Ennio Morricone has passed away. :cry:  Such a sad news, another one of the rare few real giants of the arts has left us.

The amazing line of work this guy has left behind is impeccable. I don't have time now to make a compilation, but will share one of my favorites and an underrated one i might add.

Gave it a rewatch earlier in the corona period as well (came to the conclusion that I've watched 24 seasons of tv shows since Denmark closed down).

Personally I really love it though there are indeed some rather boring episodes. Still waiting for #sixseasonsandamovie :p

It’s definitely a good show, although of course not on the level of Curb or Seinfeld. My favorite characters were Pierce and the Dean. Obviously Luis Guzman was the secret star of the show ...

Really surprised Community kept the police brutality parody episode on Netflix. I mean it’s funny, but it definitely hits differently at the moment.

    • Also it being illegal in France means the IOC will have to test everyone pre arriving at 2030 and can’t wait till they arrive at the Games to do so. I’m sure at 2028 for some sports testing will happen on site if it’s not a rule of its governing body for non Olympic events. So far only a few sports like Athletics and Boxing have that rule - I suspect others will adopt it but others might take time.
    • https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/olympics/articles/cpwj78lxypro ‘In France - one of a number of countries where genetic testing is illegal without a medical prescription due to privacy laws - the government has condemned the decision as "a step backwards". "It defines the female sex without taking into account the biological specificities of intersex individuals, whose sexual characteristics present natural variations, leading to a reductive and potentially stigmatising approach," claimed French Sports Minister Marina Ferrari.”   ‘A group of legal experts in human rights and sports have since expressed, external"urgent concern" about what they called "the regressive move toward genetic testing as a precondition of participation in women's sport" which they say "violate domestic and international laws that protect human rights and regulate the use of genetic testing and genetic information".  The group has called on athletes "to challenge the national or regional implementation of mandatory genetic sex testing, demanded by the IOC or international federations, before domestic courts, by invoking national or regional laws protecting human rights, prohibiting anti-discrimination, and regulating the use of genetic testing and genetic data".’   Domestic laws are more challenging for the IOC to deal with than CAS. Things could get complicated for a bit.
    • Except NOC’s and governing bodies have to still follow local laws. Particularly for Under 18’s there could certainly be domestic legal issues regarding associations paying for travel to other counties to circumvent a domestic ban. Child protection services don’t always act reasonable to attempts to break a domestic law.
