“Canada is almost nonexistant on the men's side.”

Josh Liendo won 100m Butterfly, and 100m Freestyle bronze at the 2022 World Aquatic Championships. Plus you have Illya Kharun, who’s one of the of the most promising junior swimmers in the world at the moment. Sure they don’t field as strong of a team as their female counterparts, but saying they’re “almost nonexistent”

Australia and Canada having a stronger women's team relative to their men probably contributes to the European imbalance. Those two nations plus the United States don't leave much for the rest of the world. Throw in a few individuals from China, Japan and South Africa and Europe doesn't have too many opportunities.

Yes, you have produced one world class male swimmer. Kharun didn’t even know that he was Canadian and is 100 % a product of the American system, not much of an accomplishment for Canada.

Kind of a „chicken or the egg“ question. If you look at NCAA swimming, you will see that there are tons of foreign men competing, but far fewer women. Did the weakness of American men allow European men to „blossom“ or did the strength of European men stop American men from „blossoming“? Not too long ago Phelps and Lochte were super dominant. I guess Seto and Hagino „disappearing“ also helped. I think it might change again (at least to some degree) in the near future. Heilmann, Winkler, Williamson and Diehl are all looking very promising, but of course Popovici/Galossi/Milak/Marchand are all also still very young.

:EGY Youssef Ramadan just clocked the 2nd fastest ever time in 100 yards history in NCAA as he won gold tonight with 43.15 sec . , he overcame Josh Linedo who also clocked 3rd fastest ever time with 43.40 sec , he became the 1st swimmer ever from Virginia Tech Program to win gold in Men's Swimming NCAA , i really hope that he'll have much different WCH this year than he had last year , well done

Finlay Knox as well, who won the same amount of medals as the entire Germany team at the World Short Course Championships.

The fact that you have to sink so low, desperately trying to win a discussion that you can't win, speaks for itself. Obviously you don't care about the "truth", but only about "winning". Still here are some facts to put your "argument" into perspective:

- The whole discussion was based on LONG COURSE results. The fact that you need SHORT COURSE results to justify declaring Knox a world class swimmer says it all. Knox finished 17th at the LONG COURSE world championships the same year. Of the 16 swimmers that finished ahead of him there, only 7 competed at the short course world championships.

- Why did you feel the need to bring up german results? Did i say that german swimming is better than canadian swimming? No. Obviously this comparison is completely irrelevant for the strength of canadian men's swimming (but if you would have asked me, i obviously wouldn't have disagreed that canadian swimming is much stronger than german swimming). Says a lot about you that you can't lead a discussion without whataboutism. Sure sign that you aren't actually open to change your opinion, so why even bother answering? Knox won one bronze medal at an olympic distance (200 IM) at the 2022 world short course championships, Germany won twice as many medals at olympic distances (men's 100 fly and women's 100 breast) AND Germany was missing 4 of their 5 best swimmers (Wellbrock, Märtens, Gose, Köhler), which should show you how little they thought of this championship. Of course you would have known that if you would have any swimming knowledge. Another proof that nowadays most people think that it is completely irrelevant whether you have any clue about the things you are talking about. Why inform yourself when you can have an "opinion" simply based on emotions? Would be great if we could establish a mechanism where only people who have informed themselves can speak about a topic, otherwise every discussion will be flooded with people who have no clue, but still for some reason demand to be taken seriously.

The Canadian Swimming Trials is set to begin tomorrow March 28th and will last until April 2nd. This competition will decide who will compete at the World Championships later this year. The selection priority is as follows...

1) Swimmers achieving the FINA A standard in Olympic events (max 2 per event).

2) In the men's & women's 100m freestyle & women's 200m freestyle the top 4 swimmers will be selected (if not already qualified above).

3) In the men's 200m freestyle the top 4 swimmers will be selected (if not already qualified above) if their combined time is less than 7:14.18

4) In Olympic events where no swimmer qualified above, the top swimmer will qualify if they are within 1% of the FINA A standard.

5) For the women's 4x100m medley relay, should the 100m winner of one of the strokes is not qualified they will be given a spot

6) For the men's 4x100m medley relay, should the 100m winner of one of the strokes is not qualified they will be given a spot if the combined time of the four strokes is less than 3:36.16

7) High Performance Director selections

Criteria 7 is in place for athletes who do not compete (Oleksiak or Ruck), selection for the 50m back/breast/fly events or if the director feels additional relay athletes deserve to attend. Should Oleksiak/Ruck wish to compete they cannot bump someone who already qualified.

Overall, there's a lot to do, for example, compared to Budapest, but unfortunately, this is Italy How many years has Roma been building their new stadium, and they keep pushing back the completion date- now I read it's 2030? and it should be ready. The same goes for Milan- there should be a modern complex of indoor swimming pools with 50 meters pools, etc., but there's a problem with one stupid football stadium, which will only be built after an ultimatum from UEFA

She wasn’t a top-tier athlete in that program anymore. She was at the end of her career. I would personally would rather race against Katie. She’s not as competitive as the other athletes,” he said. “It’s probably really unfair to say and not really where I want to go with this but that’s where we are with that.”   Uhlaender: “If I were Canada, I would be concerned in how this coach is representing the Olympic values for his country,” Uhlaender told Fox News Digital. “He hurt a whole field of athletes, all with dreams, and this sends the message that they don’t matter unless they are number one. All athletes matter, and we all deserve to compete fairly, with integrity, and respect. He did not respect anyone in that field. “This is not about my resume or how good the athletes were in the race. This is about the fact that he intentionally manipulated the competition to hurt myself and 13 other countries because he felt it necessary to eliminate all possibility. That is against the spirit of sport and not what the Olympic movement represents.”   Isn't it great when other people's dirty laundry is aired?  /sarcasm     (I was a little surprised to see NPR pick this up, but per this article, Uhlaender preemptively recorded the phone call after receiving a text from Cecchini that said he had 'bad news' for her.)
