Vashti Cunningham with a best mark of 1.91m in W HJ at US T&F Trials... Disappointing result for her, but as she's one of the highest-ranked high jumpers in the world (Having reached the QS multiple times this season too), US Athletics will probably give her the nod for Budapest 2023.

a couple of curious facts about the US Trials

 

in the women's Javelin, only Ariana Ince is qualified to World Champs so far, despite being only 6th in the Trials event

 

the top 5 girls, in fact, don't have the required measure yet (they still have time to reach for that until the last day according to the WA deadline)

 

also in the women and men's 10k races the qualified athletes are not exactly the top 3 of the actual Trials race (it's 1, 2 and 5 among the women; 1, 2 and 4 among the men)

 

same for Decathlon (1st, 2nd and 4th have the ticket at the moment...actually, in this case I'd say it's definitive, since you just can't do another top class decathlon in such a short time)

 

in women's Eptathlon only Anna Hall is qualified to the World Champs, same with Vashti Cunningham in the women's HJ and Donald Scott in the men's TJ 

 

never seen such lack of depth in US Athletics...

 

meanwhile, also the 100m specialists have been decided:

 

women's 100m

 

1. Sha'Carri Richardson 10.82 (10.71 in earlier rounds)

2.Brittany Brown 10.90 (PB)

3.Tamari Davis 10.99

(4.Tamara Clark 11.03)

 

men's 100m

 

1.Cravont Charleston 9.95

2.Christian Coleman 9.96

3.Noah Lyles 10.00

(4.Brandon Carnes 10.10 not yet qualifiefied to the World Champs, the next best within the qualification standard is Trayvon Bromell, 6th in 10.14)

 

p.s. in this race also Fred Kerley is entitled to participate as the current World champion, despite missing the Trials' competition in this race (he's running the 200m)

It's weird how much the high jump scene declined in both the men's and the women's field. 

 

Most of the athletes are now struggling at 1.90 and 2.25 lately.

British National Championships referees shown they are not going to be messed about - two guys simultaneously DQed  in a single 400m heat!
