Monzanator 3,638 Posted April 14, 2023 #111 Share Posted April 14, 2023 Yeah, China is back like expected. Nobody was willing to replace their money, least of all those human rights loving democratic countries from the Western hemisphere. Talk is cheap but money talks louder in the end "Majority of players" support the return according to WTA CEO Steve Simon. You bet they are! https://www.bbc.com/sport/tennis/65260468 Biathlonfan and Josh
Monzanator 3,638 Posted April 18, 2023 #112 Share Posted April 18, 2023 The highly stacked indoor clay Stuttgart 500 has kicked off. Wins for Donna Vekic, Beatriz Haddad Maia and Paula Badosa in R1 so far. Josh
Monzanator 3,638 Posted April 19, 2023 #113 Share Posted April 19, 2023 Jelena Ostapenko trashes Emma Raducanu 6-2 6-1. It's clear Raducanu shouldn't be nowhere near such a stacked field but accepted WC as Porsche brand ambassador only to get eaten alive by Ostapenko who won 16 points in a row at one stage Karolina Pliskova didn't waste time to dispatch Maria Sakkari 6-2 6-3 either. Raducanu has shown time and time again that she does not belong at this level. However, she is "Britain's darling" so she will always get all the attention and endless wildcards to every tournament for the rest of her career. Also it's pretty crazy how Sakkari vs Pliskova was a R1 match when Bucsa vs Korpatsch and Maria vs In-Albon were also R1 matches Edited April 22, 2023 by Makedonas
Monzanator 3,638 Posted April 22, 2023 #119 Share Posted April 22, 2023 Not much to say about the Stuttgart SF. Sabalenka beat Potapova 6-1 6-2 and Ons Jabeur retired after three games with a calf injury. So we get the 2022 final rematch between Świątek & Sabalenka
