Monzanator 2,724 Posted March 12 #71 Share Posted March 12 Maria Sakkari beats Anhelina Kalinina in three sets in R3. Kalinina had 3 double faults in the last game of the match @Makedonas No huge upsets in the women's draw so far other than maybe Belinda Bencic losing the derby to Jil Teichmann in R2. Makedonas 903 Posted March 18 #77 Share Posted March 18 Good tournament for Maria, unfortunately she will drop from 7 to 10 in the rankings as she was defending runner-up points from last year. However, she has few points to defend until October now, so she has a good chance to rise up again. Last year she lost in her first or second match in Miami, Stuttgart, Madrid, Roland Garros, Eastbourne, Toronto, Cincinnati, US Open, Ostrava, San Diego, so she'll have many opportunities to gain points. Wanderer 1,414 Posted March 18 #78 Share Posted March 18 Swiatek must work and find a way to beat Rybakina, Krejcikova...
Monzanator 2,724 Posted March 19 #79 Share Posted March 19 Elena Rybakina wins Indian Wells 1000 beating Aryna Sabalenka 7-6(11) 6-4 in the final. Definitely the two most in-form players to sit behind Świątek in the rankings. If Wimbledon virtual points counted then Rybakina would be #3 in the rankings on merit. Monzanator 2,724 Posted Tuesday at 04:32 PM #80 Share Posted Tuesday at 04:32 PM Miami 1000 has started today; Marta Kostyuk beat Elisabetta Cocciaretto in R1 so we have the high drama R2 match vs Anastasia Potapova coming next. We could have some ugly scenes in that one if things boil over, Potapova is hardly as anonymous as Gracheva who played Kostyuk in the Austin final three weeks ago.
