Athletics - Men's Long Jump

I can't go against a man who won it 4 times in a row although I can't say I like his personality, but Carl Lewis gets my vote.

Beamon's performance was fantastic but the doubt over the wind reading for his jump has to be noted.

Swimming - Men's 200m Individual Medley

Phelps, 4 wins. Nothing more to be said

Table Tennis - Women's Singles

Always vote for China in table tennis.

Badminton - Women's Doubles

I go for the 2 time champions...

 Badminton - Mixed Doubles

Tempted to go for the 1972 demonstration champions from :GBR but since they were not an option, the 2016 :INA gold medalists were totally dominant.

Athletics, men's Long Jump...I agree with @Dragon I just can't go against :USA Carl Lewis, even if my all-time favourite is Ivan Pedroso.

Swimming, men's 200 IM...I don't think I should even write who gets my pick...it's :USA Michael Phelps, obviously.

Table Tennis, women's Singles...close call between Deng Yaping and Zhang Yining...I go with :CHN Zhang Yining only because modern TT is more demanding than in the Nineties.

Badminton, women's Doubles...I also go with the double Gold medallists, :CHN Ge Fei & Gu Jun.

Badminton, mixed Doubles...:CHN Zhang Jun & Gao Ling are my pick.

@Vic Liu what are your thoughts on table tennis here? It will be Chinese sweep anyway…

@Griff88 i guess we are interested what you think about badminton events here…

Table Tennis, women's Singles... :CHN Deng Yaping Because she made it when China has no such dominative position in Table Tennis as it right now. It's more difficult at that era. Also because of it Deng is more famous and has higher position in China.

Badminton, women's Doubles... :CHN Ge Fei & Gu Jun

Badminton, mixed Doubles...:CHN Zhang Jun & Gao Ling

Rutherford, long jump, GBR, not USA

Of course, thanks! Corrected.

    • Yes, everyone is Orbán-supporter who doesn't believe Ukraine is snow white! How will change GDP if the price of the petrol increases? Because the main pipeline is shut down! And there is no any problem according by the EU!

    • It looks like the IIHF is sticking with 3-on-3 overtime for all events moving forward.     BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
    • Although it was a terrible Olympics for Canada, and my two favourite sports (Hockey and Short Track) really didn't work out for us, there were a couple of fun times.    -Women's Pursuit team winning gold because while it was not unexpected at all, it was still a great triumph against an amazing adversary.    -Dubreuil getting a surprise bronze in speed skating 500m.    -Really all of speed skating, Canada and otherwise.    -I really want to say Dubois getting gold in short track, but the whole thing was a mess.    -The last two ends of the men's curling gold medal game.    -Kingsbury getting gold. But it was more relief than excitement, unfortunately.    -I really like the luge relay. Canada was not involved, unfortunately, but it's always fun to watch.    -Men's freeski big air final was nuts! In all the good ways. That was truly the highest level of competition I've seen in a very long time.    -The dog crossing the finish line in cross country, which should have been the meme of the Olympics (not that...other thing).
    • Apparent Gu and Atkin do not like each other at all anymore. They were good freinds a few years ago but now hate one another.  I’m not sure Gu and Li Fanghui like each other either that much.
    • It was also nice to have actual crowds again. I think the Beijing organizers did the best they could given the COVID regulations that still existed in China at the time, but it sure did dampen the atmosphere *a lot*.
