so far in the history of the WC only 2 teams that won their preliminary round groups with complete full possible amount of points lost already in the round of 16.

 

Brazil in 1990 and Spain in 2006, both lost vs teams led by huge iconic legends of this sport of that time Maradona with a legendary fantastic pass to Caniggia and Zinedine Zidane leading "les bleus" to a 3-1 win even scoring the last goal...so will we see something similar for Uruguay from CR7 ?

another fun fact. When Portugal played the world cup in europe, they always played the bronze medal match, so each WC participation in their own continent finished by a qualification for semifinals
