Interesting to see Jordan Stolz entered in the 5000 m... In the B division of course.

Less hyped than I would have been early in the season, his 1500m yesterday was, let's say, less than impressive :hairpull:

Huge Spanish record for young Nil Llop, going from 34.97 to 34.52 and winning the B division in doing so

Seriously, the kid's starting to count for real.

If you thought that was interesting, here is the entry list for next weekend...he's on it for the 10k :hyper:

Also Sigurd Henriksen of course, who we might expect to do a very, very serious attack on Sven Kramer's by now ancient world junior record (13:09).

Clearly a new Eric Heiden.

Well, at any rate, it would be fun if he was to reach anything remotely close to that success.

Seriously, the kid's starting to count for real.

And during the first ever race for a skater from :ESP in the A division, he skated another national record (34.50), finishing just outside of the top 10 (#11)! :hyper: Behind two Dutch skaters (#8 and #10), the third-highest European skater in the results today.

He also got quite a lot of attention on the Dutch tv with an interview before the race. Wondering if he will skate the European Sprint Championships in Hamar next month, because he also keeps improving his 1.000m week after week.

:USA Stolz finishing 2nd on the 500m, improving his junior WR to 34.08.

He's not on the 10k starting list anymore btw.

Sven Kramer moved the world junior record into a new era:

And now Henriksen shattered it, as expected, but what a race

Ghiotto - one of my favourite skaters - with his first World Cup win after a fantastic race in 12:45,10

16 years after Enrico Fabris won a 10k in the World Cup, it's been a while for Italy :d

    • Yeah. It was pretty bad that they cancel the contract with the original creative director after 7 months of work. I feel like politics, in this particular context of the changing of prime minister and the cabinet, may had caused changes in organizational decisions regarding the Sea Games including the direction of the opening ceremony.
    • That's what I figured.  Wouldn't be a proper lead up to an Olympics without some media-fueled fearmongering.
