mrv86 3,138 Posted May 4, 2019 Author #1222 Share Posted May 4, 2019 Not time to say goodbye. We're reaching the final stage of this Opening Ceremony, but not without sharing with you two of Mexico's most recognizable songs: the nostalgic ode to our motherland "México Lindo y Querido" vinipereira
mrv86 3,138 Posted May 4, 2019 Author #1223 Share Posted May 4, 2019 (edited) The Final. Every sports themed event reaches the last part; and we could not do it better, than by revealing the Scoreboard for tomorrow's Grand Final: GRAND FINAL SCOREBOARD AFTER 0/38 JURIES SLOVENIA 0 CROATIA 0 TUNISIA 0 BULGARIA 0 INDONESIA 0 MEXICO 0 CHILE 0 FINLAND 0 SPAIN 0 GREAT BRITAIN 0 NORWAY 0 LITHUANIA 0 SERBIA 0 ITALY 0 P.R. OF CHINA 0 UNITED STATES 0 POLAND 0 ALGERIA 0 INDIA 0 TURKEY 0 ROMANIA 0 NEW ZEALAND 0 RUSSIA 0 PORTUGAL 0 SLOVAKIA 0 VENEZUELA 0 NETHERLANDS 0 BRAZIL 0 FRANCE 0 DENMARK 0 GERMANY 0 COLOMBIA 0 ARGENTINA 0 EGYPT 0 GREECE 0 IRELAND 0 MALTA 0 AUSTRALIA 0 But not everything has to be nostalgic at this point. As every Mexican knows, we can't leave this arena without singing "Cielito Lindo" Ladies and Gentlemen, this concludes the Opening Ceremony. We expect tomorrow at 7:00 GMT-5 for the Grand Final! Thank you and good night! Edited May 4, 2019 by mrv86 konig, KingOfTheRhinos, Griff88 and 5 others
Olympian1010 7,973 Posted May 4, 2019 #1224 Share Posted May 4, 2019 Great opening Ceremony! Plenty of room in the grandstands at this late hour. Great message, great presentation, and hopefully a great contest. mrv86 1 “Sport has the power to change the world. It has the power to inspire. Olympian1010 7,973 Posted May 4, 2019 #1225 Share Posted May 4, 2019 (edited) @mrv86 I tried to incorporate the last two songs in the intro I sent you, but they were all copyrighted to the heavens. Among other places, she stayed in the 'Hidden Village' in the woods here, where quite some Jews were hiding. https://excitinghistory.com/liberation-route/vierhouten-verscholen-dorp Sadly it was eventually discovered by the Germans when a boy crossed an opening in the woods to get some water and German soldiers followed him. The original huts aren't there anymore, but there are a few they rebuild to give a bit of a sense of how it was. There's not really much of a monument or info or anything except for one sign, but it's relatively deep in the woods and so pretty quiet and an interesting place to visit (and easy to do for me by bike). If you're ever on the Veluwe, let me know Been in Veluwe to cycle a couple of times but mainly on the Arnhem area, in Hoge veluwe or veluwezoom, really nice places to explore

My home area is more in the northwest of the Veluwe (Nunspeet, and surrounding places like Ermelo, Putten, Epe, Elspeet, Vierhouten), which is not exactly the Arnhem area, but you're still welcome to come cycle .
