Probably he read the news about Dale not making the World Cup team this year...🤔

But then Sivert Bakken has been stopped for health reasons until January (at least) and Dale has been chosen as a late replacement.

He might have missed this last part.

I wonder what's the thing with Bakken? I assume he has asthma on paper like every Norwegian skier so maybe this is one case where symbicort has side effects :p

Bakken's problems are related to his third covid jab.

Nobody wants to say this, but I’m convinced that 95% of athlete heart issues are related to COVID.  Not since EPO 25 years ago have we seen so many athlete deaths.

Article about the dismal state of Slovak biathlon.  I am sorry. :(  They will not even race in the men's relay any more.

Have we seen that many 'weird' deaths in the past 1,5 years? I don't seem to recall that many more than 'usual'..

    • Weightlifting formula is more or less similar to 2020 which was considered terrible by everybody!    this is a tough sport, you can't be in your best shape for too many events. there will be risks of serious injuries this way. with these rules you need 5 good results to qualify. if you bomb out in an event to score a zero you are out of the Olympics unless you replace it with another event. which means most of these poor guys have to participate in 7-8 events (and not just 5) to make up for possible bomb outs.    most importantly if you get injured anytime during this period (almost 2 years) you are out of the Olympics! that's how Sohrab Moradi missed the Tokyo Olympics despite breaking the WR during the qualification period. you can miss the Olympics in 2028 if you get injured late 2026 !  Karlos Nasar couldn't win the Olympic title if we had these rules in 2024   I understand 2024 qualification formula wasn't great either, it had its own flaws but this one is much worse for threatening athletes' health.

    • Off to Milan for the 145th session of the International Olympic Committee. Although the agenda has not been published yet, there shouldn’t be any major items over these two days, apart from the election of a member of the IOC Executive Board. This will be the eighth time the session is held in Italy, the last one being during the Turin 2006 Olympic Games.

    • Weightlifting We now have six events per gender with a total of 10 athletes per event.   The Olympic Qualification Rankings will be based on the sum of the total results of five events (three from period 1 and two from period 2). The top 8 will qualify.   The 9th spot will also be based on the OQR, but it will go to the highest ranked athlete from an unrepresented continent.   The 10th spot will be split between the host and universality (3 each per gender). Should the United States qualify normally then their host quota will be reduced, first going to an athlete from an unrepresented continent then to the overall highest ranked athlete.   Additionally, a "Best Lifter" will be awarded which would give the nation the chance to qualify 4 athletes rather than the max of 3.
